SUMMARY:EGG - Jewish comedy show LAFD fundraiser!
DESCRIPTION:EGG\n(Solo Show)\nSaturday\, February 8th\, 2024\nDoors 9:10PM // Show 9:30PM\n$15 – Presale // $20 – Day Of\n**Lineup subject to change** Late Arrivals will be turned away 20 minutes after scheduled event start.\nNo Refunds or Exchanges. For the protection of our audiences we reserve the right to refuse service.\n\nBENEFITING THE LAFD FOUNDATION\n\nSarah Adelman is a research scientist by day and stand-up comedian by night. Her one-hour solo show EGG is a hilarious and heartfelt coming-of-age journey through bat mitzvah humiliation\, data-driven dating\, and the sperm bank porn library… all culminating in the earth-shattering clash of her two worlds. \nOn Sarah’s first day working at the sperm bank\, she stares through her microscope into a petri dish full of semen and is shocked by how much the little wiggly sperms remind her of herself—intense\, frantic\, and desperate to be seen. \nIt’s a common misconception that the strongest sperm wins the race to the egg. As a research scientist\, Sarah knows better: on a chemical level\, it’s the egg that chooses the sperm. This fact forces her to examine whether her choices have led her to the life that she actually wants. If she behaved more like the egg\, confident and patient\, rather than like the sperm\, endlessly searching for approval\, could she find a happier life? \nSarah begins to turn her world upside down in an effort to test her hypothesis. But when her lab’s HR department finds evidence of her burgeoning stand-up comedy career (and it seems like they’re not into jizz jokes)\, she’s forced to reckon with whether she’s ready to truly embody the EGG. \nEGG is directed by Lucille Lortel award winner and Curb Your Enthusiasm actress Iris Bahr. \n**HISTORY OF THE SHOW: ** \nEGG was developed during the prestigious Ars Nova comedy residency\, which Sarah Adelman participated in for the 2023-2024 season. EGG premiered at the off-Broadway Ars Nova theater in June of 2024\, as well as a three-night run at Under St Marks theater in August and Washington DC in October. All five shows have sold out. In addition to Lyric Hyperion\, EGG is also touring to Boston\, Philly\, New Hampshire\, Denver\, and Miami. EGG is an official selection of the 2024 New York Comedy Festival. \nYou can read more about EGG and see photos here. \n** ABOUT SARAH: ** \nSarah Adelman is a native New Yorker\, stand up comedian\, writer\, and former scientist. She is a regular performer at the NYC comedy clubs and tours all over the east coast. Sarah was an Ars Nova comedy resident for the 2023-2024 season and now tours EGG all over the country. Sarah also shot a shot film\, “BUSTED!”\, about her experiences working at a sperm bank that is currently in post production. Her content has been featured on The Today Show\, The Daily Mail\, Bumble\, Book of the Month\, NewYorkers\, SecretNYC\, The Nudge\, 92nd Street Y\, RISK! Podcast\, Meta\, NBC News\, and more. SUMMARY:"EGG" jewish solo show at the New York Comedy Festivsal!
DESCRIPTION:This performance is presented as part of the New York Comedy Festival \nOn Sarah Adelman’s first day working at the sperm bank\, she stares through her microscope into a petri dish full of semen and is shocked by how much the little wiggly sperms remind her of herself—intense\, frantic\, and desperate to be seen. \nIt’s a common misconception that the strongest sperm wins the race to the egg. As a fertility scientist\, Sarah knows better: It’s the egg that chooses the sperm. This fact forces her to examine whether her choices have led her to the life that she actually wants. If she behaved more like the egg\, confident and patient\, rather than like the sperm\, endlessly searching for approval\, could she find a happier life? \nThis is Sarah’s coming-of-age journey through bat mitzvah humiliation\, data-driven dating\, the sperm bank porn library\, and a surprise meeting with her lab’s HR department that would force her to reckon with whether she’s ready to truly become the EGG. \nSarah Adelman is a New York City-born comedian and former reproductive health research scientist. She performs at venues across New York and has appeared on The Today Show and HBO’s Game Theory. Earlier this year\, Sarah was a resident at Ars Nova’s Comedy Artist Makers’ Program\, where she developed and premiered EGG. Her short film “BUSTED!” will be released in 2025. \nEGG is written and performed by Sarah Adelman\nDirected by Iris Bahr\nProduced by Reed Kavner

SUMMARY:“My Uncle Sam” at 3AM Theatre!
DESCRIPTION:NYC: “My Uncle Sam” by Theater Unspeakable at 3 AM Theatre \nFriday\, Sept 27 @ 7 PM \nSaturday\, Sept 28 @ 3 PM \nCome join us at 3AM Theatre for a night of laughter and entertainment with Theater Unspeakable’s production of “My Uncle Sam.” This in-person event promises to be a unique and unforgettable experience. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to witness this incredible performance live in the heart of NYC. Get your tickets now! \nAbout the Show \nBorn in Russia in 1891\, Sami Silverstein joined a wave of turn-of-the-century immigrants who came to America seeking a better life. Growing up in Brooklyn\, he took an interest in mechanics and became a test pilot during the early days of aviation. After a near-death experience\, he returned to his love of building bicycles which eventually landed him on a vaudeville stage as Sam Barton of the Barton Bros. act. Marriage\, family and an international career all come careening towards a spectacular yet tragic ending as he dies backstage at Radio City Music Hall in New York on the eve of World War II. \nBased on a true story\, My Uncle Sam uses Theater Unspeakable’s rowdy brand of imaginative physical theater to bring a very personal and meaningful story to life. Combining tongue-in-cheek humor and a dash of derring-do\, this one-person show recreates an era of great ingenuity\, triumph and heartbreak. \nWritten and performed by Marc Frost. Directed by Jeremy Aluma. My Uncle Sam is a one-person show that revives the unique story of a Russian Jewish immigrant who became an international vaudeville star in the early 1900s. \nAbout the Artist \nMARC FROST is an actor\, deviser\, educator and Chicago native who has performed and produced work in Brazil\, Ireland\, Spain\, the United States and the United Kingdom. He created Theater Unspeakable as a platform for original works of devised\, physical theater. Based in Chicago\, the award-winning company has toured nationally\, performing at venues including Lincoln Center Education (NY) and Kennedy Center (DC). A very timely theme in our current global and national climate. \nWritten by Pamela Weiler Grayson \nDirected by Shellen Lubin \nProduced by Red Lyric Productions in Association with Adam Weinstock and Emerging Artists Theatre. \nThe cast features Yair Ben-Dor\, Arielle Flax\, Rebecca Hoodwin\, Arielle Beth Klein\,  and Melissa Wolff. \nThe creative and production team includes scenic design by Colleen Shea\, lighting design by David Castaneda\, sound design by Grady Gund\, and costume coordinator Sophia Dorio. \nPerformance schedule: \nThursday\, September 12 at 7pm \nSaturday\, September 14 at 7pm \nMonday\, September\, 16 at 7pm \nWednesday\, September 18 at 2pm \nThursday\, September 19 at 7pm \nSunday\, September 22 at 2pm \nTuesday\, September 24 at 7pm \nThursday\, September 26 at 7pm \nSaturday\, September 28 at 7pm
