DESCRIPTION:You can impact the lives of people in our community!\nJoin us in packaging food and non-food essentials for New Yorkers in need as well as specialty cocktails\, light bites\, and an inside look at the work your support makes possible across New York City. \nDate: Tuesday\, June 23rdTime: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pmLocation: Spitzer Fulfillment Center\, 171 Lexington Ave. New York\, NY 10016 \nWith several hands-on tasks\, volunteers will have the opportunity to support Met Council’s missions in supporting low-income seniors\, families\, and college students in the Greater New York City area. We’ll share updates on how Met Council is responding to rising food insecurity\, supporting Holocaust survivors\, assisting families in crisis\, and serving more than 155\,000 New Yorkers each month through our pantry network. \nWhile our Under 40s events are typically free to attend\, for this special gathering we are inviting guests to contribute whatever they are able as we close out our campaign year. In the spirit of making this event accessible to everyone\, registration will be “pay what you wish” through a special donation link. Every contribution\, no matter the size\, directly helps vulnerable New Yorkers. \nSuggested giving levels:• $1\,800 can provide groceries for 100 meals• $180 can help 10 people with disabilities struggling to get by• $72 can cover diaper assistance for struggling mothers• $36 helps a family of four put food on the table for three days• $18 ensures a homebound senior receives 9 nutritious meals’ worth of food \nYour generous donation makes our work possible. DESCRIPTION:Looking for a meaningful way to spend a summer evening at Ocean Beach? Join Repair the World\, the JCCSF\, Congregation Emanu-El\, and SF Hillel+ for the first gathering of Chai Tide Cleanup Crew\, a new beach cleanup series designed for Jewish young adults in their 20s and 30s.  \nTogether\, we’ll care for Ocean Beach and help protect San Francisco’s coastline while putting Jewish values into action through volunteer service and environmental stewardship. The evening will begin with a community beach cleanup\, followed by an opportunity to continue the conversation and get to know fellow volunteers at a nearby bar or restaurant.  \nWhether you’re passionate about protecting our local environment\, looking to meet new people\, or simply want to spend a meaningful evening by the ocean\, we’d love to have you join us.  \nWe’ll provide:  \n\nTrash grabbers and cleanup supplies  \n\n\nGloves and trash bags  \n\n\nA welcoming community of fellow volunteers  \n\nSave the dates: July 23 and August 27 for the remaining Chai Tide Cleanup Crew gatherings this summer.  \nRegistration Required Meeting location details will be shared with registered participants prior to the event.

DESCRIPTION:Help replenish the blood supply in the DC metro area!\n \n \nIt’s safe\, easy\, confidential\, and extremely rewarding. The EDCJCC partners with Inova Blood Services to bring skilled technicians and top-of-the-line equipment for our quarterly blood drives. \n \n \nA few facts about donating blood: \n \n \n \nOne blood donation can save four lives\n \n \nAll donations stay in the Washington\, DC area\n \n \nEvery 17 seconds\, someone in the DC area needs a blood donation\n \n \nOne out of 10 people will need a donation before the age of 70\n \n \nThe body quickly replaces the amount of blood given during the donation\n\n \n \nFor more information\, please see the eligibility requirements for donating. SUMMARY:Handmade for the Homeless – November 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow knitters and crocheters to make handmade goodies for a great cause! Our goal is to contribute as many warm winter items as possible to distribute to individuals experiencing homelessness in the DC area. All levels of knitters and crocheters are welcome. Don’t know how to knit or crochet? We’ll teach you! \n \n \nWhat should I bring? Please bring your own needles/crochet hooks. If you are not already working on a warm winter item and are looking for a great project or just starting out\, please bring #8 or #10 knitting needles (circular or straight) or a size H crochet hook. Don’t forget the patterns you’re working on or want to start. \n \n \nWhat do you supply? We provide lots of beautiful yarn\, several patterns including hat patterns using #17 needles or a size N crochet hook\, and experienced knitters and crocheters to teach anyone who would like to learn. If you can’t join us in person\, join us in spirit by knitting or crocheting hats\, scarves\, gloves and mittens\, socks or slippers\, and other items to keep people warm during the cold winter months. \n \n \nThis event is seated and indoors. DESCRIPTION:Join Handmade for the Homeless for our special December session – THE BIG COUNT! We have been working hard all year to create hundreds of beautiful warm winter items to benefit those experiencing poverty and homelessness in the DC area\, and now it’s time to inventory the end result. If you have finished items at home\, this is the deadline to get them into this year’s count so please bring them with you! \nAs in past years\, we ask that if you are dropping off finished items you do so by 11:00 AM at the very latest\, so we have enough time to sort and count all of the beautiful items you create. \nWe will meet inside the Edlavitch DCJCC located at 1529 16th Street NW.
