Washington Hebrew now welcomes her to discuss the book\, which offers readers a rare\, ground-level understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the hearts and homes of its people. She is an elected member-representative of the Executive Committee of the Union of Israeli. Yaron’s expertise has been showcased on major American television networks\, including Good Morning America\, Morning Joe\, CNN\, and MSNBC\, as well as prominent European channels like France 24 and German ARD. SUMMARY:Wednesdays @ Wonderland: Jen Glantz\, “Finally the Bride”
DESCRIPTION:Introducing a brand-new author series from WHC at Wonderland Books (7920 Norfolk Ave\, Bethesda)\, an independent\, women-owned bookstore. Celebrating Jewish voices with heartfelt storytelling and wit\, each author will be in conversation with a member of our clergy. We can’t wait to see you there! \nRSVP \nAbout the Book\nFrom the woman who made a career out of being a professional bridesmaid comes a refreshingly honest\, touching\, and humorous memoir about finding love and finally the bride becoming herself.  \nAfter helping hundreds of strangers navigate their walk down the aisle\, Jen Glantz thought she had seen it all — until it was her turn. When a psychic once told her she’d never find love\, Glantz set out to prove her wrong\, embarking on fourteen first dates in one month. But finding love was just the beginning. \nIn this candid and witty account\, Glantz takes readers through her unconventional journey from professional bridesmaid to pandemic bride\, learning that sometimes the perfect wedding isn’t what you imagined at all. With stories that will make you laugh\, cry\, and question everything you thought you knew about modern love and marriage\, “Finally the Bride” proves that there’s no right way to tie the knot – as long as you’re true to yourself. \nA must-read for anyone who’s ever felt pressure to have the perfect wedding\, struggled with relationship expectations\, or simply wondered what really happens behind the scenes of all those picture-perfect celebrations. \nAbout the Author\n\n\nJen Glantz is the founder of Bridesmaid for Hire\, the world’s first company where strangers can hire a bridesmaid for their wedding. She’s the author of “Always a Bridesmaid (for Hire)” and “All My Friends Are Engaged.” Jen lives in Brooklyn with Adam (the husband)\, Gemma (the baby)\, and Goofy (the dog). She spends her free time eating slices of pizza and trying to figure out how to wear Forever 21 crop tops at the delightful age of 36. \n\n\n\nView our full list of Lectures & Talks for 2025-26. \nRegister\n.wForm form{text-align: left;} \n \n document.addEventListener(“FA__DOMContentLoaded”\, function(){\n const FORM_TIME_START = Math.floor((new Date).getTime()/1000);\n let formElement = document.getElementById(“tfa_0”);\n if (null === formElement) {\n formElement = document.getElementById(“0”);\n }\n let appendJsTimerElement = function(){\n let formTimeDiff = Math.floor((new Date).getTime()/1000) – FORM_TIME_START;\n let cumulatedTimeElement = document.getElementById(“tfa_dbCumulatedTime”);\n if (null !== cumulatedTimeElement) {\n let cumulatedTime = parseInt(cumulatedTimeElement.value);\n if (null !== cumulatedTime && cumulatedTime > 0) {\n formTimeDiff += cumulatedTime;\n }\n }\n let jsTimeInput = document.createElement(“input”);\n jsTimeInput.setAttribute(“type”\, “hidden”);\n jsTimeInput.setAttribute(“value”\, formTimeDiff.toString());\n jsTimeInput.setAttribute(“name”\, “tfa_dbElapsedJsTime”);\n jsTimeInput.setAttribute(“id”\, “tfa_dbElapsedJsTime”);\n jsTimeInput.setAttribute(“autocomplete”\, “off”);\n if (null !== formElement) {\n formElement.appendChild(jsTimeInput);\n }\n };\n if (null !== formElement) {\n if(formElement.addEventListener){\n formElement.addEventListener(‘submit’\, appendJsTimerElement\, false);\n } else if(formElement.attachEvent){\n formElement.attachEvent(‘onsubmit’\, appendJsTimerElement);\n }\n }\n }); DESCRIPTION:Join Aviv’s 20s & 30s book club for our next gathering\, where we’ll dive into the writings of contemporary rabbis. This time\, instead of one shared book\, you can choose from four options: Heart of a Stranger by Angela Buchdahl\, The Amen Effect by Sharon Brous\, For Such a Time as This by Elliot Cosgrove\, or Judaism Is About Love by Shai Held. We’ll begin together and then break out into smaller groups by book for thoughtful conversation and connection…and there may or may not be a special guest joining us! Whether you’re steeped in Jewish thought or just curious to learn and talk in community\, we’d love for you to be part of it.

SUMMARY:Jon Meacham
DESCRIPTION:In a polarized era\, history can become a subject of political contention. Many see America as perfect\, while others argue that the national experiment is fundamentally flawed. In the anthology American Struggle: Democracy\, Dissent\, and the Pursuit of a More Perfect Union\, Pulitzer Prize–winning biographer and #1 New York Times bestselling author Jon Meacham shows that the truth likely lies between these extremes. America has had shining hours\, and also dark ones. Meacham unites essential American voices from 1619 to the present\, with primary-source documents that take us back to critical moments when Americans fought over the meaning and direction of the national experiment. \nwith Politics and Prose Bookstore \n\n\n\n\nEvents at Sixth & I \n\nSeating is primarily general admission; first-come\, first-served. SUMMARY:Interfaith Social Justice Book Club: Still Born
DESCRIPTION:Dive into powerful literature alongside community members of B’nai Jeshurun and St. Paul & St. Andrew\, as we join together in exploring books that amplify social justice themes. Each month\, we’ll gather together in person to reflect on and discuss our monthly read. We’ll read both fiction and nonfiction works that wrestle with the intersecting injustices we collectively face. \nThis month we’re reading *Still Born* by Guadalupe Nettel\, translated by Rosalind Harvey. *Still Born* is the story of two independent and career-driven women in their mid-thirties\, neither of whom have built their future around the prospect of a family. One has taken the drastic decision to be sterilised\, but as time goes by the other becomes drawn to the idea of becoming a mother.

SUMMARY:Virtual Book Talk: The Extraordinary Story of “Hester Street”
DESCRIPTION:Join author Dr. Julia Wagner on Sunday\, February 8th at 2pm Eastern Time on Zoom to discuss her new book\, Hester Street (BFI Film Classics/Bloomsbury 2025)\, the first book to focus exclusively on Joan Micklin Silver’s films. \nJoan Micklin Silver’s 1975 debut feature film\, Hester Street\, changed the face of Jewish American cinema and forged a path for women in the industry. Marking the film’s 50th anniversary\, Dr. Wagner will explore how this trailblazing Yiddish\, feminist film defied expectations and became an international hit that still delights all these years later. \nHester Street evokes the immigrant experience through the character Gitl (Carol Kane\, whose performance earned her an Academy Award nomination)\, as she steps off the boat from Eastern Europe and into the heart of New York’s Lower East Side in 1896. Reunited with her assimilated husband\, Gitl must adjust to American life and negotiate how much of the old world she can bring into the new. \nJulia’s talk will uncover the fascinatingly rich layers of Yiddish culture in the narrative and will bring vital new insights to an under-appreciated landmark film. \nPlease see the Zoom link in your order confirmation email. This program is entirely virtual. \nRegistration for this Zoom program is pay-what-you-wish. The following are suggested amounts for each ticket type:\nAdults $12\nSeniors $10\nStudents $8 \nREGISTER HERE
