SUMMARY:Millie Bobby Brown in Conversation with Josh Horowitz: Netflix’sEnola Holmes 3
DESCRIPTION:The game is afoot again. Producer and star Millie Bobby Brown talks to Josh Horowitz about Enola Holmes 3 — the latest chapter in Netflix’s beloved mystery-adventure saga\, including an exclusive look at clips from the movie. \nSince first bringing Nancy Springer’s fearless young detective to life from book to screen\, Brown has captivated audiences as Enola Holmes — a sharp-witted sleuth forging her own path in Victorian England in the shadow of her infamous older brother\, Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill). \nIn Enola Holmes 3\, adventure chases the young detective to Malta\, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before. \nIn a live recording of Happy Sad Confused\, Millie Bobby Brown reflects on her evolution from the breakout success of Stranger Things to producing and starring in Enola Holmes 3\, and how the film marks another step in expanding and deepening the Enola Holmes universe.

SUMMARY:Jewish DragIcons: Then and Now
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a conversation with Golan Moskowitz about the little-known history of Jewish drag in the U.S.–from Yiddish drag kings in the early 1900s to the iconic performers and activists of the 1960s and beyond (hello\, Sadie\, Sadie the Rabbi Lady!)–and the diversity of Jewish drag today. Through stories and film clips\, we’ll explore the intersection of drag and Judaism\, celebrate the icons of the past century\, and explore the provocative questions this art form has always raised. \nThen\, because no conversation about drag is complete without live performance\, we’ll present a full-blown Jewish drag show! Hosted by drag artist Yochai Greenfeld\, the evening will feature performances by Alvah Klempt\, Matzah Belle Soup\, and Yiddish drag king artist Miryem-Khaye Siegel for an unforgettable celebration of fabulous Jewish culture. \nFinally\, we’ll close the night with a dance party\, so stick around to keep the Pride celebration going!

SUMMARY:Dave Portnoy in Conversation with Erika Ayers Badan:Cancel Me If You Can
DESCRIPTION:Dave Portnoy didn’t set out to be a political lightning rod — but love him or hate him\, he’s here to stay. Join the Barstool Sports founder for the unfiltered story of how he created a media empire. \nDave Portnoy built Barstool Sports by trusting his instincts — and refusing to soften his voice. Now\, in his new memoir Cancel Me If You Can\, he tells the story behind the persona: the risks\, missteps\, reinventions\, and stubborn persistence that carried him from handing out a scrappy Boston sports paper to leading a sprawling digital brand. \nWhat does it mean to build an audience by being unapologetically yourself? How do you navigate success when it arrives alongside scrutiny — and often\, backlash? Hear Portnoy in a candid conversation about ambition\, controversy\, and the evolving rules of media and public life. \nPhoto credit: Paul Morigi/Getty Images for The Stronach Group.

SUMMARY:Live Performance: Nightingale of Iran
DESCRIPTION:Just as Queen Esther’s story is one of beauty in Iran\, so is the story of Younes Dardashti—a religious Jew who despite all odds\, became an Iranian national celebrity in the 1950s. In the 1960s\, his son Farid became a teen idol on TV. Beloved by all\, it was a shock when at the height of their fame\, they left the country. \nNow\, granddaughters Danielle and Galeet Dardashti have used their investigative and musical talents to bring this story to life in an award-winning podcast. \nThis beautiful evening of music\, multi-media performance\, and conversation will build on the podcast and lift up the story of the Jews of Iran. \nListen to the award-winning podcast\, The Nightingale of Iran\, here. \nCo-presented with The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum as part of Esther in the Time of Rembrandt. Part of The Vilna’s The Only Woman in the Room series\, sponsored by The Miriam Fund of Combined Jewish Philanthropies. \nDanielle Dardashti \nDanielle Dardashti is an Emmy award-winning documentary writer/producer\, a former on-air TV news reporter\, and a storySLAM champion who has been featured on NPR’s Moth Radio Hour. She is the co-author of the Jewish Family Fun Book (Jewish Lights) and co-founder/Creative Director of live storytelling show Storyboom. Danielle leads corporate storytelling workshops all over the world. \nDr. Galeet Dardashti \nDr. Galeet Dardashti is a renowned musician and anthropologist of Middle Eastern Jewish culture. In her new release\, Monajat\, she sings and composes around samples of her famed Iranian grandfather – The Nightingale of Iran – with an acclaimed ensemble of musicians. SUMMARY:Culinary Workshop: Entremets with Fred Csibi-Levin
DESCRIPTION:Did you know some early rabbinic authorities once declared turkey to be unkosher? Here at The Vilna\, we’re embracing Thanksgiving turkey and celebration as a core part of what it means to be Jewish American. It’s the perfect expression of the Jewish value of hakarat hatov\, gratitude\, in the most Jewish way we know: a delicious meal with family and friends. SUMMARY:Art Talk: The Art of Remembrance
DESCRIPTION:In 2025\, the Museum of Fine Arts\, Boston (MFA) Judaica and Art of the Americas departments collaborated to acquire a painting by renowned painter Nathaniel Jacobson called “Bread of Affliction.” Nathaniel painted this in 1940 in response to the persecution of Jews in Europe—a rare subject for an American artist\, especially before the United States had entered the war. \nNow\, join us for a special conversation between Nathaniel’s son\, Josh Jacobson\, and MFA curators Simona Di Nepi and Ethan Lasser as they explore Nathaniel’s life\, Holocaust experience\, and what this work means for their collection. \nThis special conversation will be recorded to air for International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27\, 2027. \nAbout “Bread of Affliction” \nAt the center\, a Passover ritual is observed against the backdrop of the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt. The Seder table is a place of sorrow rather than joy—note the female figure hunched over her meal. To the right\, a modern refugee fleeing a burning synagogue behind him\, Torah scroll in hand\, is left in despair at the edge of an abyss. \nA recent gift from the artist’s family\, the work is currently receiving treatment in the MFA’s Conservation Center before it goes on display in the MFA Art of the Americas Wing. \nEthan Lasser \nEthan Lasser is Chief of Curatorial Affairs and Conservation at the Museum of Fine Arts\, Boston. Prior to the MFA\, Lasser held curatorial positions at the Chipstone Foundation in Milwaukee and the Harvard Art Museums. He received his doctorate from Yale University and graduated from Williams College\, where he is currently a trustee. \nSimona Di Nepi \nSimona Di Nepi is the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Curator of Judaica at the Museum of Fine Arts\, Boston\, responsible for building and displaying the museum’s Judaica collection. Originally from Rome\, she curated at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and other institutions\, and in Israel before establishing the MFA’s first dedicated Judaica gallery. \nJoshua Jacobson \nJoshua R. Jacobson is the son of painter Nathaniel Jacobson. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in music from Harvard College\, a Master’s in choral conducting from the New England Conservatory\, a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Cincinnati\, and a Doctor of Humane Letters honoris causa from Hebrew College. Before retiring in 2018\, Dr. Jacobson served 45 years as Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Northeastern University\, including nine years as Music Department Chairman and six years as the Bernard Stotsky Professor of Jewish Cultural Studies. He is also Visiting Professor and Senior Consultant in the School of Jewish Music at Hebrew College. He is also the founder and director of the Zamir Chorale of Boston\, a world-renowned ensemble specializing in Hebrew music. \nInformation on getting to The Vilna Shul [view map]
