DESCRIPTION:Join NEXTWork\, NEXTGen Detroit and Gesher’s top-shelf networking program at\nThink Sweet\, a joyful new addition to Metro Detroit’s kosher food scene. Owned\nby Jack and Kayla Hazan\, Think Sweet is a candy and treat destination born\nfrom a simple but ambitious vision: create a place where people from all\nbackgrounds can enjoy a wide selection of kosher sweets\, served with a warm\nwelcome. Treat yourself to top-tier networking while you build your own candy\nbag and sample one of their signature slushies. You’ll also hear from Jack\nabout his inspiration for the store and what having a Jewish\, family-owned\nbusiness means to him. \n$18 includes networking\, candy bag and signature slushie\nPlease RSVP no later than December 8. \nThank you to our Event Chairs:\nEmily Elconin\nDaniel Snyder\nArie Zeidner \n**About Jack Hazan**\nJack Hazan is a Brooklyn-born entrepreneur who relocated to the Detroit-area\nwith his wife\, Kayla and their two children. With a background in marketing\,\nretail and wholesale spanning some 20 + years\, he recognized a gap in the\nlocal community’s sweet-treat landscape: a place where families\, all\nbackgrounds\, and those with dietary restrictions could enjoy candy and\nconfections in a welcoming\, inclusive setting. Guided by his love of New\nYork’s vibrant kosher food scene\, Jack founded Think Sweet to blend his retail\nexpertise with his passion for creating a joyful community-space. The result:\na candy shop that is both a retail experience and a gathering spot—bursting\nwith color\, fun\, and a sense of belonging. \n**NEXTWork is brought to you by Gesher Human Services and NEXTGen Detroit.\nSpecial thanks to the Hadas and Dennis Bernard NEXTWork Endowment Fund.** \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/13513

SUMMARY:Rosh Chodesh Circle
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that Rosh Chodesh was given to women as their own special holiday? \nRosh Chodesh signifies the renewal of the moon and the start of a new month. According to tradition\, it was a reward to women for their devotion and wisdom during the Exodus and their refusal to participate in the creation of the Golden Calf. Instead\, they eagerly contributed their gold and jewelry to help build the Mishkan (Tabernacle)! \nJoin us to celebrate the new month with meaningful discussions that explore Jewish wisdom\, traditions\, rituals\, and blessings to honor Rosh Chodesh. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect and foster a supportive community— along with snacks and wine! \nWhat to Expect: \nThoughtful discussions on Jewish wisdom and traditions\nRituals and blessings to honor the new month\nOpportunities to connect and build a supportive community\nSnacks and wine\nWe can’t wait to celebrate with you on October 22nd\, November 26th\, and December 17th!

SUMMARY:Queer Speed Mingling
DESCRIPTION:For Jewish queer folks looking for friendships\, relationships\, networking or all of the above! \nSpeed mingling is based on the format of speed dating\, but instead of looking for only romance\, participants are quickly introduced to many new people with the goal of making either friends\, romantic connections\, professional contacts\, or a combination of those things. We’ll use group games\, pairings\, and small groups to help you have fun and meet people! Think of it as a structured\, low-pressure way to meet lots of people in a short time. \nThis event is facilitated by Galia Godel\, the leader of Tribe 12’s queer tribe\, and Danielle Selber\, the founder of Tribe 12’s matchmaking program. \nNote that masks are required for this event! We will use an outdoor balcony space for some programming\, weather permitting. \n$5 includes a vegetarian dinner. No one will be turned away for lack of funds – email danielle@tribe12.org for an accommodation\, no questions asked. \n\n\n\n
