DESCRIPTION:**Please note that due to Passover\, this gathering will be held on Tuesday\, April 22nd\, the fourth Tuesday of the month\, instead of the usual third Tuesday of the month.** \nThis Jewish playwriting group invites writers of all experience levels to share creative space together. The group’s goals are to foster a safe and supportive space for Jewish playwrights\, encourage exploration for new writers\, and provide opportunities to hear work read aloud. \nThe monthly drop-in meetings will include a mix of writing sessions with optional prompts inspired by Jewish themes and reading days with structured feedback. While focused on playwriting\, those interested in other forms of performance writing are welcome to attend to see if the group is a good fit. \nThis group is led by Tribe 12 Fellowship alumni Doriane Feinstein (’19) and Aimee Goldstein (’21)\, co-founders of of Curlyfish Productions.

SUMMARY:Ritual Lab Workshop: Arabic & Hebrew Calligraphy
DESCRIPTION:Learn about Arabic\, Hebrew\, and Persian language and participate in a hands-on calligraphy workshop! \nThis special Ritual Lab experience will be led by artist educator Ruben Shimonov and take place at Harlem Moishe House. The workshop will begin at 7 p.m. The address will be shared will all registrants closer to the date of the program. \nSpace is limited. Register to reserve your materials. \nJoin us as we dive into the rich visual worlds of Arabic\, Hebrew and Persian calligraphy. Through historical\, spiritual\, linguistic and artistic lenses\, we will discover the parallels between these languages. Educator\, community builder\, and artist Ruben Shimonov will also take us on an exploratory journey of his own multilingual calligraphy—sharing the ways he has used his art to celebrate the cultural diversity of the Greater Sephardi world. SUMMARY:Queer Art in the Sukkah
DESCRIPTION:Join Rabbinic Intern Molly and Artist Miriam Saperstein for an afternoon of art making in the sukkah. Outside a beautiful community garden in West Philly\, we will do a short text study about sukkot and make art using foraged inks. Come prepared to get a little messy\, we advise wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We will provide all needed supplies and snacks. This event is intended for folks who identify on the LGBTQ+ spectrum. \nAccess Notes: The sukkah is accessible from the street level; however bathrooms are located up inside on the third floor and masks will be required to enter inside. We will have extra masks available for those who need. We also ask that you please take a negative covid test prior to joining to ensure we all stay as safe as possible.

SUMMARY:Opening Night: Tending to Seeds of Sweetness
DESCRIPTION:Ye’ela Wilschanski invites us into her immersive artwork in the form of a Sukkah. Ye’ela’s piece\, Tending to Seeds of Sweetness\, is an art installation\, an architectural garment\, and a temporary dwelling which will be used for seven days of events throughout the holiday of Sukkot. \nYe’ela draws her inspiration from Sukkot’s ritual of Netilat Lulav: a bundle of four plants centered around a date tree frond. Through her unique artistic vocabulary\, she incorporates elements of the date tree including the sweet pits of the date fruit and the inflorescences and fronds. The artist combines basket weaving\, needle work\, and pottery to create the Sukkah art installation. \n\n\n\n\nOpening Night: Tending to Seeds of Sweetness is presented by The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life as a part of the Sukkot in The Neighborhood festival at the Ring Community Center at Luria Academy of Brooklyn.
