SUMMARY:Elevate Shabbat Presents: Queen of Persia The Purim Shabbat
DESCRIPTION:On Purim\, we celebrate the power of hidden miracles\, feminine courage\, and collective joy. Queen of Persia is an immersive Purim evening honoring the legacy of the Book of Esther\, the Jewish roots of Persia (modern-day Iran)\, and the mystical themes of revelation\, resilience\, and transformation. \nLike Esther herself\, this night moves between worlds — upstairs and downstairs\, hidden and revealed\, sacred and celebratory. Expect an evening layered with ritual\, Persian-inspired flavors\, music\, movement\, and moments of surprise. \nWe’ll gather in costume (bold\, royal\, expressive encouraged ✨) to mark a night where fate turns\, masks fall\, and joy becomes a mitzvah. \n7:00–8:00 PM | Happy Hour + Surprise Acts\nBegin the night with drinks\, Persian-inspired bites\, and unexpected performances woven throughout the space — a nod to Purim’s playful chaos and joy. \n8:15 PM | Purim Prayers in the Loft\nWe ascend for a moment of intention and ritual: Purim prayers\, storytelling\, and reflection inspired by Esther\, Vashti\, and the unseen forces that shape our paths. \n8:30 PM | Dinner Downstairs\nA communal feast unfolds below\, grounding us in abundance\, connection\, and the joy of gathering — a central mitzvah of Purim. \n9:00 PM | Dance Performance\nA live dance performance draws from Persian movement and storytelling\, embodying themes of strength\, beauty\, and divine timing. \n10:00 PM–Late | Dancing in the Loft\nWe return upstairs as the night turns ecstatic — music\, movement\, and celebration flowing freely into late-night Purim joy. \n***Elevate Shabbat’s mission is to create inclusive\, experiential Shabbat gatherings in cities around the world. Drawing from Judaic wisdom and other ancient spiritual traditions\, our events leave guests feeling inspired\, connected\, and renewed. Everyone is welcome! \n***We do NOT accept refunds within 48 hours of the event. \n***This is a 21+ venue. \n***Questions? Email us at Jenny@ElevateShabbat.comor DM us on IG @ElevateShabbat. We can’t wait to share this special tradition with you.

SUMMARY:Sinners' Shabbat
DESCRIPTION:Deviants\, kinksters\, queens\, and transgressors: Join us as we celebrate God’s day of rest with unholy revelry. Whether you’re a yid or a goy\, formerly religious or a shabbat dinner newbie\, a mensch or a shiksa\, we’re excited to have all of your debaucherous tuchuses at our metaphorical shabbos table (because we’re kicking’ it buffet style). Hosted at the Spacious HMU private loft. \nInstagram: @sinners.shabbat \nWhat to Expect: It’ll be exactly like your cousin’s Bar Mitzvah\, only less Torah\, no children\, edgier entertainment\, and outfits to make your rabbi blush — like a dinner party where your Bubbe hopes you meet a sexy beshert. Our goal is to create a fun and raucous experience that honors the tradition of Shabbat for everyone who might feel out-of-place in traditional spaces. \n8pm – Doors Open. 9pm – Doors Closed & Kiddush. \nIt wouldn’t be a Jew-ish event without food\, and a suspicious amount of carbs\, so challah and a hearty vegetarian dinner will be served. Limited complimentary wine will be provided\, you are welcome to BYOB. \nWhat to Wear: It’s a mitzvah (a commandment) to honor Shabbat by dressing to the nines. This edition’s theme is Black & Red. So bring out that leather\, latex\, and lingerie. No street clothes. Anyone not dressed up to our standards will be asked to submit for punishment by our guest pro dommes. Inspo for femmes. Inspo for mascs.

SUMMARY:Big Table Havdala
DESCRIPTION:BIG TABLE HAVDALA is happening on SATURDAY\, FEBRUARY 21 in Oakland!\nWe chose the name BIG TABLE HAVDALA for a reason. We are setting a truly BIG TABLE where three worlds come together: Asian Jews\, local Jewish leaders\, and a grassroots prayer\, care\, and support group led by pastor and counselor Apostle Deborah Fowler. \nMonths of shared planning are now culminating in this very special night\, after a chance conversation sparked by the friendship between Apostle Fowler and a LUNAR member. Rooted in Altadena\, a historic center of African American life recently impacted by the fires\, our special interfaith guests are a growing community active across Los Angeles County. \nWe chose to center the night on great conversation\, great food\, and the beauty of HAVDALA. With an unforgettable Asian Jewish welcome and our signature LUNAR culinary creativity\, take a seat at our BIG TABLE and enjoy a bountiful dinner and fantastic new connections. \nWhat about Lunar New Year? \nLunar New Year takes place just a few days before BIG TABLE HAVDALA\, and we are excited to bring this as an education component in our HAVDALA dinner. \nWhat is the menu? \nDinner is vegetarian. Dairy is served separately. Gluten-free and nut-free options will be available. Wine and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided. \nWhat do we talk about? \nFeel welcome to talk about whatever matters to you\, from everyday life to big ideas. This is a BIG TABLE. \nDo I need to be an Asian Jew to attend? \nThis event is open to Asian Jews and any guests they would like to invite. This is a mixed table by design. \nWhere do I learn more about Apostle Deborah Fowler? \nTo learn more about Apostle Deborah Fowler\, her incredible story\, and her grassroots community\, read her recent interview here: https://voyagela.com/interview/meet-deborah-fowler-of-alhambra-ca/

SUMMARY:Shabbat Exploration Series: Society Hill Synagogue
DESCRIPTION:This is the February edition of our Shabbat Exploration Series! We will be attending services and enjoying lunch at Society Hill Synagogue\, located at 4th & Spruce. Their services are grounded in Conservative liturgy (prayer structure) and incorporate influences from the Reconstructionist\, Renewal\, and Reform movements\, and beyond. This experience will include sitting together for Shabbat services beginning at 9:45am which includes a popular intergenerational Torah discussion facilitated by Rabbi Nathan Kamesar at 10:30am. At 12pm\, we will sit together as a group for lunch and at 12:30pm enjoy a lunch-and-learn with their visiting scholar-in-residence\, Rabbi Michael Cohen\, who will speak about “Overcoming the Asymmetry of the Sensational: A Better Future for Israelis and Palestinians.” We are incredibly grateful to our friends at Society Hill Synagogue for welcoming us warmly to such a special program! \nLike every part of this series\, no prior experience is expected — the point is to try something new and not do it alone! You can sign up for just this one event as a drop in\, or join our Shabbat Exploration Series cohort to enjoy the full arc of programming. See below for details! \nShabbat is a day of rest\, joy\, and connection\, and there are many ways to experience it. Maybe you want a break from your phone for a day\, or even just for a few hours\, but that might feel lonely. Maybe you’ve been wanting to check out a synagogue in town\, but don’t want to go by yourself. Maybe you want to connect over a leisurely Shabbat lunch and songs with other people\, feeling like there’s nowhere you have to rush off to\, just being fully in the moment. \nThis is the inspiration for our Shabbat Exploration Series. One Saturday a month from January to June\, rotate between synagogue-based experiences and home/nature-based ones with other 20s and 30s. This is a chance to explore different ways of doing Shabbat to see what fits for you individually\, while also forming friendships with people who are doing the same. The experiences are open to people who currently have any level of Shabbat observance\, including zero experience\, and there is no end goal regarding how you observe. Tribe 12 Rabbinic Intern Adina Ikeman and Tribe 12 Director of Engagement(s) Danielle Selber will lead this program. \nParticipation options: \nDrop in to individual events: Just interested in one or two offerings? You can register for any individual event just like any other program. \n$5 for synagogue-based experiences (includes a meal)\n$10 for home- or nature-based experiences (includes a meal) \nJoin the cohort: Want the full experience? Join a cohort of people exploring what Shabbat means\, together. Cohort members are automatically registered for every program in the series (if you need to miss any\, that is totally fine). \n$54 covers all Saturday morning experiences\nCohort members have the added perk of attending a closing Shabbat dinner with Danielle and Adina! \nSchedule: (subject to change and will be updated) \nSaturday\, January 31st: Potluck lunch and singing (Manayunk) \nSaturday\, February 21st: Synagogue experience (Society Hill Synagogue) \nSaturday\, March 21st: Shabbat lunch and walk (Wissahickon Park) \nSaturday\, April 11th: Synagogue experience (Rodeph Shalom) \nSaturday\, May 16th: Guided Shabbat hike (Northwest location TBA) \nSaturday\, June 6th: Synagogue experience (Center City location TBA) \nFriday\, May 29th: Closing Shabbat for cohort members (Location TBA) \nQuestions?
