We will join at the Weitzman Museum of American Jewish History to light Shabbat candles\, enjoy a vegetarian meal and enjoy the peace of Shabbat with each other. There will be light schmoozing when you arrive and we will gather for ritual and blessings at 6:45pm. There will be round tables set-up that seat up to 10 people and seating is open. Hear from Sixth & I community speakers about the impact of LGBTQ+ spiritual safe spaces and a sermon from Rabbi Amelia Wolf of Congregation Etz Hayim. \nThe meal provided will be kosher-style pescatarian. Please note: tickets are non-refundable. \nSixth & I strives to be an accessible and welcoming resource for the community by offering affordable experiences\, including Shabbat dinners. SUMMARY:Shabbat x Breathe June 2025
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Shabbat and Breathe\, led by Mallory and Cory Maran! This event has two parts 1) Breathwork Journey 2) Integration and Shabbat Dinner \nWe begin with a short talk to set the space\, provide education on the practice\, and share intentions. We then go into a 40-minute Breathwork alongside powerful music. Participants will be guided in a rhythmic\, circular breath that helps us drop into a shifted state of consciousness. We will connect why this is important to the mystical roots of Judaism and Shabbat. \nThis breath has ancestral and shamanic roots\, and that connection is felt throughout the space. As a trained Somatic Therapist and Energy Healer\, Mallory holds the space and facilitates energy work\, Reiki\, and light touch when called to help participants go deeper. You can experience a state that feels “psychedelic” as well as great release\, physical detoxification\, unblocking\, and self-discovery. \nAfter the Breathwork\, Mallory will help participants integrate what came up\, connect the dots\, and root into their experience. Participants say it’s like years of therapy in one session\, and a natural high for both the body and mind! \nWe will have a vibrant dinner following the Breathwork (with gluten-free and vegetarian options). We will do the rituals of Kiddush and Hamotzi prior to our meal. \n***Space is limited\, and usually fills up. Once the Breathwork journey begins\, we do not want to disrupt the integrity and safety of the space.\nBring your own yoga mat. (If you do not have one we can supply you with one).\nWe will have eye masks for you to immerse your experience.\nDress comfortably\nNo heavy meals at least 60 minutes prior\nBring your own water bottle for the practice.\nOptional: Bring a blanket\, journal\, pillow for your head — anything that helps you feel comfortable!\nBe open! All you need to do is show up and you’ll have exactly the experience you’re meant to have. No two journeys are ever the same!\n\n— \nContraindications: \n1. Epilepsy \n2. Detached retina \n3. Glaucoma \n4. Prior diagnosis by a healthcare professional of bipolar or schizophrenia \n5. Osteoporosis that is serious enough whereby moving around actively could cause potential issues. \n6. High blood pressure that is not controlled with medications \n7. Pregnancy (if you are pregnant please let the host know and a different process will be instructed) \n8. Cardiovascular disease and/or it regularities including prior heart attack \n9. Family history of aneurysms \n10. Hospitalization for any psychiatric conditions or emotional crisis \n11. Strokes\, seizures\, TIAs or other brain/neurological conditions or disease \n12.
