DESCRIPTION:It’s not a club anyone wants to be a part of\, but if you are a person in their 20s or 30s who has lost a parent\, partner\, or sibling\, sometimes it’s good to be with people who get it. In partnership with JCFS\, this group meets monthly on zoom to share memories of our loved ones and discuss our experiences of grief in a supportive space. How are Israeli Druze dealing with the complexities of their identity during the war against Hamas?  \nFor more perspective join us for Lunch and Learn with Gadeer Kamal-Mreeh\, the Jewish Agency’s first Druze emissary to the United States. Gadeer was the first Druze woman to be elected to the Israeli Knesset\, and in 2017 broke yet another barrier by becoming the first non-Jewish anchorwoman in Israel to broadcast the evening news in Hebrew. We’ll hear about Gadeer’s amazing triumphs against remarkable odds\, her work to empower other women by creating opportunities for them to succeed\, and what being a Druze Israeli is like today.  \nLunch will be provided.  \nPresented in cooperation with the Jewish Agency For Israel.

DESCRIPTION:The Well’s founding director\, Rabbi Dan Horwitz\, recently published his first book\, Just Jewish: How to Engage Millenials and Build a Vibrant Jewish Future\, and he’s coming home to Metro Detroit to celebrate! Join us on Sunday\, March 10th at Hillel Day School for an afternoon of nachas\, schmoozing\, and book signing! \nTowards the middle of our time together\, we’ll hold a brief panel discussion featuring Rabbi Dan Horwitz\, Rabbi Jeff Stombaugh (current executive director of The Well) and Rabbi Paul Yedwab (of Temple Israel)\, where they’ll explore the past\, present\, and future of young adult Jewish life from their own unique perspectives. The panel will be moderated by Jessica Katz. \nDue to the generosity of donors\, there is no charge to attend\, but registration is required. You can also add on a pre-order copy of Just Jewish\, and then we’ll have it for you when you arrive.
