DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the seder table! This Passover\, we have been reflecting on the idea of “welcoming the stranger”\, hachnasat orchim. Many of us have experienced feeling like a stranger\, like we did not belong\, like we were not quite enough. And then other people welcomed us in\, gave us a seat at their table\, made us feel like we were part of an extended family\, a wonderfully varied community of friends. \nOn this\, the fourth New York City LUNAR seder generously hosted by Congregation Beth Elohim\, we invite you to come and break matzah with us\, and to think about how you have\, or would like to\, turn strangers into friends. And on this note\, in honor of our Asian elders\, we will have bags and note cards that you can decorate\, to accompany dinners that will be delivered to them by the lovely folks at Heart of Dinner (https://www.heartofdinner.org/). \nThis event is open to Asian American Jews and their +1 guests of all ages. LUNAR defines “Asian American Jews” as folks who identify as both Jewish (whether by heritage\, religion or culture) and Asian American — this includes mixed race folks\, transracially adopted folks\, Asian Jews by Choice\, and more. We fully welcome those in the process of converting to Judaism\, or simply exploring Judaism. Additionally\, this year\, we are welcoming couples with one Asian partner and one Jewish partner. \nTicket Prices: \nAdults: $18 (Early bird: $14) \nKids: $10 (Early bird: $6) \nFood: We will be serving a meat meal that is kosher for Passover\, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. In this dating experiment\, men compete on stage for one lucky bachelorette\, with the little caveat that the men can’t speak. Through a series of games – which includes calling the boys’ moms and unlocking their phones – we narrow it down to two men. Finally\, we hear their voices\, and the lucky winning man is sent with our bachelorette to the bar for an immediate date. Audience members wear wristbands according to their relationship status\, and a wingcouple (who wears actual wings) helps those of you who are too shy to make a move.
