We would love to have you there!\n\n\nJoin ATID on Sunday\, January 14th at 9:45 AM for an MLK weekend hike to the the classic downtown + mountains view on all the postcards! Our moderate route begins with an ascent of the Culver City stairs and continues to the MLK memorial obelisk in Kenneth Hahn State park. The hike is 5 miles round trip with ~900 ft of elevation gain and is expected to take two and three quarters hours. \nIn accordance with Sinai Temple’s COVID-19 protocols (https://www.sinaitemple.org/covid-19/)\, please stay home if you are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms or have been directly exposed to someone with Covid-19. \nBring: At least two liters of water\, good hiking shoes\, long pants\, sun protection (sunscreen\, hat)\, layered clothing\, a snack\, and of course a big smile on your face! \nMeeting Point/Parking: Meeting Point/Parking: Meet at the trailhead at the intersection of Jefferson Blvd and Hetzler Rd near 6050 Jefferson Blvd\, Culver City\, CA 90232. This initiative\, organized by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum\, in collaboration with the professional cycling team Israel Premier Tech\, the Israeli Foreign Ministry\, and the Israeli Cycling Federation\, aims to mark the hostages’ 100th day in captivity.DC Jews on Bikes will be riding in solidarity. We are are partnering with the EntryPointDC Outdoors tribe and EntryPoint DC\,  the 20s\,30s and early 40s program of the EDCJC. \nWhen: Sunday\, January 14th\, 11:30am. DESCRIPTION:Join us in this journey to discover the  rich and extensive history of the Jews of Jamaica.\n\n\n\nThe history of Jews in Jamaica is rich and extensive. The first wave of arrivals were escaping the Inquisition. Among the latest immigrants were European refugees running away from Nazism. Today the Jewish community is very connected with the local Jamaican population. Only one active synagogue remains\, the sand floored Shaare Shalom\, which hosts the United Congregation of Israelites in Kingston. Though the community today is but a fraction of its former size\, its impact on Jamaica endures. \nAbout Rivka \nRivka Rivka is a Canadian Jew whose parents immigrated from Jamaica. She is the co-founder of Jews of Colour – Canada\, the Executive Director for Beth Tikvah Synagogue and a Board Member of the North American Association of Synagogue Executives (NAASE). Rivka is a recognized speaker and educator on Jewish Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

A light meal and drinks will be provided. This is a great opportunity to meet other couples and think about what it means to build a Jewish home.
