In partnership with JCFS\, this group meets monthly on zoom to share memories of our loved ones and discuss our experiences of grief in a supportive space. DESCRIPTION:The Well’s Jewish learning partnership with the Shalom Hartman Institute is back for our third installment! \nAt this session\, we’re going to dive into ideas of power and vulnerability. \nFrom Claire Sufrin\, guest educator and Shalom Hartman Institute Senior Editor: \nWe are often told that\, for the centuries they lived entirely in exile\, Jews were vulnerable to the whims of the local Christian or Muslim population\, and then\, with the establishment of the State of Israel\, Jews gained the power to defend themselves\, radically changing what it means to be Jewish. Hamas’ attack on southern Israel on October 7 and Israel’s subsequent invasion of Gaza demand that we reexamine this narrative and think anew about the limits and responsibilities of Jewish vulnerability and Jewish power. \nDue to the generosity of donors\, there is no cost to attend. Please note that this program is available exclusively for young adults\, approximately ages 21-40. Space is limited and advance registration is required. The location will be sent to registered attendees the day before the program. While this event is part of a series\, participants do not need to have attended the previous session\, and there is no committment to attend any future sessions. \nLearn more about Claire Sufrin\, guest educator for the 3/18 session: \nClaire E. Sufrin is Senior Editor at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America\, where she edits Sources: A Journal of Jewish Ideas and the Notes from the Field blog. Claire earned a PhD in Religious Studies from Stanford University\, where her research focused on the German-Jewish thinker Martin Buber\, and a BA in Religious Studies from Yale University. \nBefore joining Hartman in 2022\, Claire taught in the Crown Family Center for Jewish and Israel Studies at Northwestern University for over a decade. \nClaire is co-editor of The New Jewish Canon\, a collection of the most significant Jewish ideas and debates of the past two generations. DESCRIPTION:Join Mick\, Rebecca and a group of peers for a cohort-based experience at the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History.\n\n\nTelling Our Stories: Leading up to Passover\, the ultimate Jewish story-telling experience\, we will explore our own family’s histories and stories. \nJoin Mick\, Rebecca and a group of peers for a cohort-based experience at the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History. We will use its award-winning collection as our inspiration for investigating our own Jewish stories and histories. Together we will learn\, laugh\, and create. \nWe will meet weekly for 4 sessions at the museum\, plus a culminating session during the Freedom Seder Revisited. Dinner will be served at each session. All sessions will be 6:30-8:30 PM unless otherwise noted. \nCost is $36 a person for the series. If cost is prohibitive\, scholarships are available – please be in touch. All sessions include a vegetarian dinner. \nDates Include: March 19\, April 2\, 9\, 15 \n________________________________ \nTribe 12 connects people in their 20s/30s to Jewish life and community in Philadelphia today so they will choose to stay connected tomorrow. DESCRIPTION:Purim is all about rejoicing at being saved from persecution\, and musical expression is one of the most joyous forms of celebration. Professional drummer Aaron Kierbel will facilitate a hands-on\, fun and engaging program\, taking participants around the world through drumming\, movement and singing. Drums are provided and no musical experience is required. All that’s needed is a playful spirit and a willingness to connect to others through rhythm.    \nAaron Kierbel is a professional drummer\, educator and the founder of RhythmALLogy. His workshops have been presented in schools\, jails\, shelters\, festivals and corporate boardrooms. Aaron has played in 30 countries around the world with genre-defying group Rupa and the April Fishes\, as well as collaborating locally in the Bay Area with the San Francisco Mime Troupe\, The Jazz Mafia\, La Misa Negra\, Meklit Hadero and others.
