SUMMARY:Eight Crazy Nights: Latkes & Vodkas Movie Night
DESCRIPTION:It’s time to “latke and vodka” with Adam Sandler’s Hanukkah musical extravaganza! This Festival of Lights\, join PJFM for drinks\, latkes\, and laughter galore with this animated classic. Sandler’s animated adult comedy from the early 2000s follows Davey Stone\, a 33-year-old Jewish alcoholic living in a snowy\, fictionalized town of New Hampshire. After getting arrested\, he is ordered community service as the assistant referee for the town’s youth basketball league where he is forced to work alongside elderly\, little Whitey Duvall (also voiced by Sandler)\, the head referee. Hilarity ensues\, plus plenty of spontaneous\, outrageous musical numbers. This holiday – or in this case\, Chrismukkah – season\, Davey will question his troublemaking lifestyle and learn the true meaning of kindness. Enjoy a FREE drink and latkes on us while you laugh along with Davey Stone and his crazy crew! *THIS IS A 21+ EVENT.*

SUMMARY:Sinners' Shabbat: Hanukkah Edition
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a spicy twist on Hanukkah\, where we’ll honor the sacred day of rest\, and the miracle of the oil\, with a night of fiery burlesque\, delicious food\, and more mischievous surprises that would make your bubbie blush! \nInstagram: @sinners.shabbat \nWhat to Expect: A queer\, alt\, and delightfully defiant Hanukkah shabbat party—where the tradition of lighting the menorah and eating latkes meets burlesque\, decadent performances\, and a dress code that’s more “fiddle me on the roof” than “tradition.” You do not need to be Jewish to attend\, just be fun and freaky. \n7:30pm – Doors Open \n8:30pm – Kiddush & Dinner \n9:30pm – Special Performances \n10:30pm-Late – The Hanukkah Revelry \nIt wouldn’t be a Jew-ish event without food\, and a suspicious amount of carbs\, so challah\, latkes\, and a hearty vegetarian meal will be served\, catered by @cheftova . Our venue has a fully stocked bar. \nWhat to wear: It’s a mitzvah to honor Shabbat by dressing in your finest\, so pull out your most dazzling\, daring\, and decadent looks. Think leather\, latex\, lingerie\, and anything that shines brighter than the menorah. Channel your inner Maccabee warrior or glam goddess—If you arrive in a T-shirt\, you will be asked to strip or leave. Inspo for femmes. Inspo for mascs. \nPlease note that tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable. You must be 21+ to attend. If you are interested in volunteering for a free ticket\, please email sinnersshabbat@gmail.com with subject “VOLUNTEER”.

SUMMARY:Winter Concert: Celebrate Chanukah with Jazzukkah!
DESCRIPTION:This year\, we are delighted that Christmas Day coincides with the first night of Chanukah! As the city shuts down on December 25th\, the Museum at Eldridge Street on Manhattan’s historic Lower East Side comes to life for an afternoon of Chanukah fun for all ages! Come jam with The Jazzukkah Project\, and be a part of a special candle lighting ceremony with historic menorahs from the remarkable Aharon Ben Zalman Collection on display in the Museum’s 1887 Sanctuary. \nThe Jazzukkah Project is an ensemble that’s putting a sonic\, er\, spin on the beloved canon of Chanukah classics. They take songs like Ma’oz Tzur and I Have a Little Dreidel and ignite them with jazz flair\, creating a familiar holiday sound that both kids and adults will love. \nMusicians: Gilad Abro (co-creator\, bassist)\, Elana Rosenfeld (vocals)\, Tom Oren (keys)\, Alon Benjamini (percussion)\, Gil Shefler (producer\, creator\, songwriter). \nWinter Concert Tickets:\nAdult $25 (at-the-door $30)\nStudent/Senior $20 (at-the-door $25)\nChild 5-17 $15 (at-the-door $20)\nChild Under 5 FREE\nCool Culture Pass / SNAP Benefits $5 \nThere are no assigned seats. \nAbout the Band: \nThe Jazzukkah Project is an ensemble of artists striving to create the ultimate holiday playlist. Jazzukkah is reimagining songs like Ma’oz Tzur as a slow jam\, giving I Have A Little Dreidel a much needed bepop hop and penning one or two original pieces. \nThe Project took inspiration from the Christmas playlist that takes over the airwaves every season. So many Yuletide hits were created by Jewish artists: Irving Berlin (“White Christmas”)\, Mel Torme (“The Christmas Song”)\, Johnny Marks (“Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer”)\, to name a few. \nJazzukkah wondered: Could we give Chanukah a musical makeover the way some of those legendary songwriters did for Christmas? Is there a Chanukah holiday sound that we’re missing? \nEver since\, the band has been experimenting with the rich catalog of Chanukah songs\, giving them a distinct jazz touch\, and even adding a tune or two of their own to the repertoire like Hanukkah Blues. \nAbout the Artists: \nGilad Abro is an award-winning classically trained bassist and educator. He plays with Israel’s top talent like Berry Sakharoff and Marina Maximillian Blumin. \nElana Rosenfeld is a singer-songwriter\, cantor\, and educator. She has a BFA from the Tisch School Of The Arts at NYU and serves as High Holy Day cantor at Park Avenue Synagogue in New York City. \nTom Oren is the winner of the 2018 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Piano Competition (currently the Herbie Hancock Institute). \nAlon Benjamini is a drummer and composer and a graduate of the jazz department at Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts\, and The New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music. He lives in New York and is a regular for musicians like Reggie Workman\, Avishai Cohen\, Gilad Hekselman\, Takeshi Ohbayashi\, Yotam Silberstein\, and many others. \nGil Shefler is a songwriter and the creator of The Jazzukkah Project. \nImage Credit: Museum at Eldridge Street\, Scott Brevda 2023.

SUMMARY:National Menorah 2024
DESCRIPTION:The world’s premier celebration of Chanukah! Join us on the first night of Chanukah – Wednesday\, December 25\, 2024\n\n\nPerhaps the most prominent public Chanukah program in the world is the annual lighting ceremony of the National Chanukah Menorah on the Ellipse\, just across from the White House in Washington\, DC. \nThe lighting of this magnificent menorah – the world’s largest – is attended by thousands every year and seen via TV newscasts\, internet feeds and other media by tens of millions across the nation and around the world. \nIndeed\, this menorah has become a premier national and even international symbol of the festival of Chanukah\, inspiring many communities across the globe to sponsor more and greater public menorah lighting ceremonies of their own. After all\, this is the essence of the celebration – to increasingly proclaim and celebrate the miracle of Chanukah – The Festival of Lights\, in the most public manner possible. \nIn this way\, we actively reaffirm the celebration of our freedom\, inspired by the historic and present victory of right over might\, light over darkness\, and understanding and justice over intolerance and bigotry. \nAn opportunity to support this completely privately sponsored program is available when obtaining your (free) tickets.
