SUMMARY:Israel's Artistic Revival: Navigating Trauma and Renewal
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to offer this class for free. But to ensure we can keep making Jewish education accessible at no charge\, will you make the suggested donation of $36 (or more\, if you are so moved)? Thank you for your generosity! \nFollowing a hiatus in the Israeli art scene after the October 7th massacre\, there is now a resurgence\, as public art institutions\, private galleries\, and independent artists endeavor to paint\, mold\, and display art again. Our discussion will delve into ongoing exhibitions and initiatives across the nation\, addressing projects previously paused and reflecting on the potential and significance of art amidst the recent traumas and political upheavals.

SUMMARY:Tribe 12 Israel Series: Fear Writing Circle
DESCRIPTION:In December 2023\, we hosted a space to come together as a community to process the current situation in Israel and Gaza. Our community\, as well as our staff\, is not monolithic – we contain a broad range of perspectives on this issue. In listening to these perspectives\, we centered three core emotions echoing in our community: grief\, fear and hope. For the original event\, we gathered as one community to break bread together and share a bit from our hearts. Then\, we offered a choice between three small group conversations\, each facilitated by a member of our staff\, that centered one of these three emotions. \nIn 2024\, we are committed to holding more space for our community to process as this war continues. We’ve decided to launch a monthly gathering\, rotating between grief\, fear and hope. Every session is drop-in and you can come to as many or as few as you feel called to attend. \nOur March gathering will be a writing and sharing circle facilitated by one of Tribe 12’s engagement professionals\, Danielle Selber. This gathering is for those feeling fear\, whether fear for their own safety\, fear for the safety of others in Israel and Gaza\, fear of antisemitism\, or something else. There will be time for quiet written reflection with facilitation and prompts and for structured sharing where participants can express curiosity and validation for fears that may look different than their own. In this space we will engage in witnessing and honoring rather than challenging each other’s fears. \nDinner will be provided. \n________________________________ \nTribe 12 connects people in their 20s/30s to Jewish life and community in Philadelphia today so they will choose to stay connected tomorrow. We welcome people who identify as Jewish\, whose partner is Jewish\, or who are exploring Judaism. Tribe 12 seeks to include all individuals regardless of gender or identity expression\, religious history and practice\, and financial circumstances. We strive to host inclusive\, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. If you require any accommodations please see our accessibility page and contact us with any questions at info@tribe12.org.

SUMMARY:The Diversity of Jewish Practice: How Did We Get Here?
DESCRIPTION:When: Mondays\, March 4 – April 8\nTime: 2 – 3:00 pm.\nLocation: Legacy Midtown Park\nPrice: $100 Members | $125 Non-Members \nThis is a class about the diversity within Judaism and its practices. \nHow did we get to where we are as Jews today? How did Jewish life change and evolve with the implementation of denominations? Why did that change happen in the first place? What are the important differences between each one? We hope to answer these questions and more as this class takes us through the wide and varying perspectives that make Judaism so wonderfully diverse!

SUMMARY:Tacos & Torah: Shai Held Edition
DESCRIPTION:Join Rabbinic Intern Molly Paul for a special Tacos and Torah. This month’s Tacos and Torah coincides with a special museum event where Rabbi Shai Held discusses his book\, Judaism Is About Love. In his book Shai addresses a misinterpretation of the Jewish tradition that has shaped the history of the West: Christianity is the religion of love\, and Judaism the religion of law. He shows that love is foundational and constitutive of true Jewish faith\, animating the singular Jewish perspective on injustice and protest\, grace\, family life\, responsibilities to our neighbors and even our enemies\, and chosenness. \nWe will gather at 5:45pm ahead of the event for a vegetarian dinner with a text study and discussion on Rabbi Held’s ideas beginning promptly at 6pm. We will then join the museum event at 7pm. This tacos and torah is for anyone interested in learning more about how love is at the center of Jewish\, you do not need to have read his book to attend!
