EntryPointDC is once again running our Satellite Seder program\, where we’ll set you up with other 20/30/40-somethings looking for or hosting a seder on the first night of Passover\, Monday April 22. \n\n\n\nSatellite Seders are for people who: \n\n\n\nWant to attend a seder at 20-and-30-and-40 somethings homeWant to host a sederWant to do a mitzvah and include a new face (or several) at their seder where they are already hosting other guestsUnsure about hosting? We can connect you with everything you need to host a seder including nourishment options (gift cards) to help provide ingredients and food items\, suggestions about how to host a Passover potluck\, and any Passover seder materials you may need. We also have a Passover Seder Boot Camp class you can attend led by EDCJCC Jewish Life Director Rabbi Atara Cohen. You can attend Sunday\, April 14 at 10:30 AM in person at the EDCJCC OR virtually Monday\, April 8 at 7:30 PM. \n\n\n\nPLEASE REMEMBER: One person per registration form. Your friend/spouse/neighbor/cat/alien-from-outer-space must fill out their own form. If requesting to be placed with another person\, that person must also request you. SUMMARY:J. Robert Oppenheimer: From Hero to Outcast
DESCRIPTION:Attorney Oak Dowling will present clips from “The Trials of J. Robert Oppenheimer” a 2009 PBS American Experience documentary. Although he will be discussing the current 2023 blockbuster movie and comparing it to the PBS program\, clips from the 2023 movie Oppenheimer will not be presented.    \nDuring World War II\, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appointed physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spent years developing and designing the atomic bomb. Their work came to fruition on July 16\, 1945\, as they witnessed the world’s first nuclear explosion\, forever changing the course of history.  \nOppenheimer’s story continues as he struggles with remorse but not regret for his invention\, the stripping of his federal security clearance by the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC)\, the rumors about his left leaning tendencies and the antagonism between he and Louis Strauss\, a fellow Jew and the chairman of the AEC.  \nOak Dowling\, JD\, is a retired attorney with 43 years of practice. He’s a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison Law School and a native of Chicago. He was a part-time Instructor of Law at College of Marin and has been an Instructor in the OLLI program at Dominican University for 13 years.  In his law classes\, he uses courtroom drama to demonstrate legal principles.   \nOak has lived in Marin County for 50 years and was happily married for 61 years.  He has been a member of the Marin County Financial Abuse Specialist Team (“FAST”) and was selected as Outstanding Marin County Volunteer of the Year for 2012-2013. As an avocation\, he has performed in theatre in Marin and San Francisco for 15 years.

Our very own Rabbi Batshir Torchio\, and longtime friend and song leader\, Jonathan Bayer\, will guide us through an evening filled with ritual\, song\, and stories. \nWe will be serving up a traditional dining experience with symbolic foods and mouthwatering favorites – from charoset to matzah ball soup. If you’re vegetarian\, gluten-free\, or a child\, we have a meal that will suit your needs. Bring the family\, invite some friends\, tell a neighbor\, and come gather around a table with us. \nMENU 2024\nProvided by Mangia Nosh \nFIRST COURSE\nVegetarian Matzah Ball Soup \nENTRÉE\nIndividual dinner\, choice of: \nSliced brisket with gravy\, mashed potato and acorn squash puree (mixed together\, dairy free)\, sauteed spring vegetables\nGrilled salmon filets with a cherry tomato\, olive and pistachio relish\, mashed potato and acorn squash puree (mixed together\, dairy free)\, sauteed spring vegetables\nPortabella mushroom stuffed with diced vegetables (no breading)\, mashed potato and acorn squash puree (mixed together\, dairy free)\, sauteed spring vegetables (vegan)\nDessert\, coffee\, tea and wine are included with the meal. \nDIETARY NOTES\nKosher-style\, meat meal\, no dairy\, no shellfish\, no pork.
