Directed by Paul Wegener and Carl Boese\, the 1920 film is set in the 16th-century Jewish ghetto of Prague\, where Rabbi Low (Albert Streinruck) creates a clay Golem (played by Wegener) to protect his people from the tyrannical Emperor Luhois. Brought to life by a demon spirit and a mystical amulet\, the Golem becomes a heroic figure but turns destructive when manipulated for selfish purposes\, wreaking havoc in the ghetto. \nBand Bio: \nEstablished in July 1999\, Yakuza has solidified its position as a Chicago icon for 25 years\, skillfully straddling the realms of metal and experimental music. With seven releases under their belt\, their latest album\, Sutra\, emerged in 2023 through Svart Records.

DESCRIPTION:Hello Asian Jewish Chicago! You know what they say\, new (lunar) year\, new LUNAR hub. Prepare yourself for all you can eat hot pot\, some casual Jewish learning\, and perhaps a board game or two. This is a brand new hub\, people—so join us in helping shape what it looks like at its first event.  \n \nThis event is open to Asian American Jews. LUNAR defines ‘Asian American Jews’ as folks who identify as both Jewish (whether by heritage\, religion or culture) and Asian American – this includes mixed race folks\, transracial adoptees\, Asian Jews by Choice\, and more. We fully welcome those in the process of converting to Judaism\, or simply exploring Judaism.  \n \nThis event is free to attend\, with a suggested donation of $15. Donations help to cover food\, supplies\, and venue costs. Whether or not you choose to donate\, your food will be covered for this event!
