SUMMARY:Jewish DragIcons: Then and Now
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a conversation with Golan Moskowitz about the little-known history of Jewish drag in the U.S.–from Yiddish drag kings in the early 1900s to the iconic performers and activists of the 1960s and beyond (hello\, Sadie\, Sadie the Rabbi Lady!)–and the diversity of Jewish drag today. Through stories and film clips\, we’ll explore the intersection of drag and Judaism\, celebrate the icons of the past century\, and explore the provocative questions this art form has always raised. \nThen\, because no conversation about drag is complete without live performance\, we’ll present a full-blown Jewish drag show! Hosted by drag artist Yochai Greenfeld\, the evening will feature performances by Alvah Klempt\, Matzah Belle Soup\, and Yiddish drag king artist Miryem-Khaye Siegel for an unforgettable celebration of fabulous Jewish culture. \nFinally\, we’ll close the night with a dance party\, so stick around to keep the Pride celebration going!

SUMMARY:Board Game Speed Dating with Quirk Events
DESCRIPTION:Finding someone can be painful. But board games are always awesome. So what if you combined board games and searching for a partner? \n\n\n\n\nSearching for a partner can be horrifically painful. But board games are always awesome. So what if you combined board games and finding a partner? \nPicture this: You sit down for a night of games. A gaming concierge walks you through several games over the course of the night. You play classics you love and discover brand new games you’ve never heard of\, playing each with a different group of fun singles. All while in a great establishment with plenty of delicious options on tap. At the end of the night\, you give your gaming concierge a list of the folks you met that you’d like to date and a list of those you met that you’d like to just hang out with as friends. If any two people put down the same name as each other in either column\, then your gaming concierge will make sure you get each other’s e-mail address and you can coordinate a time to hang out. \nBest case scenario: You find true love\, discover some awesome board games\, and make some new friends. \nBad case scenario: You accomplish only one of those three things\, which is still pretty great. \nWorst case scenario: There will be alcohol. \nThis event is sponsored by Luv With Lev\, a DC-area organization dedicated to Jewish matchmaking. It is specifically for Jewish single men & women in their 20s and 30s\, but in every other way\, it will run the same as our other board game speed dating events. We also have more generalized events\, as well as LGBTQIA+ events. And we’re hoping to add events to serve even more people in the future! Head over to https://www.quirkevents.com/dc to see what else we have to offer. (If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page\, you’ll be able to join our mailing list and get notified about future events. Plus\, joining our mailing list gets you 50% off your first ticket purchase!) \nBefore you decide to buy tickets\, a few basics we should cover: \n1) To stay up-to-date on everything we have going on at Quirk Events\, follow us on Instagram here! \n2) Refunds are only available to those who cancel with more than 48 hours’ notice\, in order to make sure we have enough time to find a replacement for you and keep the event well-populated. (Exceptions will be made for emergency situations on a case-by-case basis). After that\, we’re blowing the money from your ticket sale on something awesome and nonrefundable. \n3) If we get to 24 hours before the event and still haven’t sold five tickets for each gender\, we will cancel the event (and notify you). When we have run this event in the past\, tickets have consistently sold very well\, so we don’t expect this to happen. But we thought we should cover this in case it came up. \n4) How many games we have and which ones we use will be based in part on how many people attend\, so we can’t tell you for sure what we’ll have right now. But the goal is for all of them to be fun\, light\, easy-to-learn games. Selection will include games from both the something-you-have-played-before category and the something-you-haven’t-played-before category. The games are also chosen because they often tend to spark conversation and leave room for chatting with new people as you play. All games will be group games\, meaning you’ll get a chance to meet a handful of people with each new round. \nNote: While Dacha Beer Garden is primarily an outdoor venue\, this particular event will take place in their indoor private event space. Please note that Dacha does not serve food in this space\, so if you’d like to order dinner\, we recommend arriving early and getting a bite in their main dining area.

No prior knowledge is necessary\, but if you want to try your hand at writing you will need to be familiar with the Hebrew Aleph-Bet. \nQueer Yeshiva leads rigorous\, immersive and inclusive Jewish learning in the UK\, wrestling with Jewish knowledge and tradition through an explicitly Queer lens. We unlock Talmud and other sacred texts through events\, courses and resources\, by Queer Jews\, for Queer Jews. \nA booking fee of £2 and a security levy of £1.50 will be added to all orders. More information can be foundhere. \nA friendly reminder that this event is for those in their 20s and 30s. Our Young JW3 community is all about building a safe and welcoming space\, and we kindly ask that you respect this age guidance. \nBecome a JW3 Friend and save up to 10% on events!

SUMMARY:Tu B'Av: Jewish Valentine's Lesbian\, Bi\, Trans & Queer+ Online Speed Dating
DESCRIPTION:Tu B’Av\, often called ‘the Jewish Valentine’s Day\,’ has roots in rich Jewish social and historical traditions. In ancient times\, young people would dress in white and dance in the vineyards\, beckoning suitors to meet them! Our speed dating event brings this tradition into the modern era – an open\, welcoming space where you can come as you are and connect with others in the spirit of Tu B’Av. \n \nAt Tu B’Av: Jewish Valentine’s Lesbian\, Bi\, Trans & Queer+ Online Speed Dating\, you’ll enjoy:\n\n• A lively\, well-hosted online LBTQ+ speed dating event filled with laughter\, flirting\, and engaging one-on-one conversations \n• Up to ten five-minute dates in Zoom Break Out Rooms with real singles serious about connecting \n• Smart\, algorithm-driven matches powered by Dr. Frankie\, with over 20 years of experience as a trusted LGBTQ+ matchmaker and relationship expert \n• Group mingling between dates to keep the energy high and meet even more people. \n• Contact information for your matches after the event\, making it easy to continue conversations and build real connections \n \nThis Zoom event combines real-time video interactions with algorithm-driven matching technology\, making every connection intentional\, personalized\, and meaningful. Whether you’re looking for romance\, friendship\, or just a fun time with great company\, this online speed dating event is your chance to connect with like-minded folks in a safe\, structured environment.\n \n \n⏰ Event Timing for Tu B’Av: Jewish Valentine’s Lesbian\, Bi\, Trans & Queer+ Online Speed Dating:\nCheck-in opens: 4:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM ETCheck-in closes: 4:55 PM PT / 7:55 PM ETEvent begins: 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET sharp \n\nWe encourage arriving early to ensure your technology is working and you don’t miss your matches.\nLate arrivals will not be able to participate.\n\n \nFrequently Asked Questions\nQ: How does the matching technology work? \nA: Our matching system was developed by Dr. Frankie after nearly 20 years of LGBTQ+ matchmaking experience. Before the event\, you share your preferences on age range and where your ideal date falls on the masculine-to-feminine spectrum. Our system then prioritizes speed dates with people who align with those preferences\, creating a more intentional experience than traditional speed dating. While the technology improves compatibility\, it does not guarantee every match will be your ideal type. \nQ: Who is this event for? \n\nA: Our Lesbian\, Bi\, Trans\, & Queer Speed Dating events are designed for lesbian\, bisexual\, nonbinary\, and genderqueer folks who want to connect\, flirt\, and see where things go. This event is not for Cis Gay Men. Looking for our GBTQ+ events? Click here.\nThese events are proudly trans-welcoming. Kindness is required\, respect is non-negotiable\, and intolerance of any kind is a no-go. We ask everyone to honor names\, pronouns\, and identities so all attendees can feel comfortable being themselves. Anyone unable to do so may be asked to leave.\nThis is an all-ages\, 21+ event. Come with an open mind\, a good attitude\, and maybe a little spark. We’ll handle the rest.\n\nQ: What happens during the speed dating event? \nA: You will have up to ten one-on-one conversations that last five minutes. After each date\, you privately note whether you would like to connect again. The system then identifies mutual matches after the event. \nQ: How can I connect with my matches after the event? \nA: After the event\, you’ll receive the contact information for your matches\, allowing you to take those promising connections to the next level. \nQ: What if I am shy or new to dating events? \nA: That is very common. The structured format helps take the pressure off because everyone is there for the same reason\, and the short conversations make it easier to break the ice. There is also a friendly host who guides the event and makes sure everyone feels comfortable and welcome from the moment they arrive. If you are new or a little nervous\, you will be in good company. Many guests are trying speed dating for the first time. \nQ: Where can I find more Lesbian\, Bi\, Trans & Queer+ speed dating events? \nA: Looking for our other LBTQ+ events? Click here. \n \nEach event is expertly run by one of our welcoming hosts who keep things fun\, friendly\, and flowing. No awkward pauses. No weird silences. Just good vibes\, great people\, and not one “ghost” or “catfish” in sight.\n \n \nNeed Assistance?\n📧 Email: events@littlegaybook.com📞 Phone: 510-775-1036\nBy registering\, you consent to SMS updates (reply STOP to opt-out). \n💸 Insider Tip: Lock in your lower rate now\, and your heart (and wallet) will thank you later. \nAll sales are final. \nNo refunds.
