SUMMARY:WHC Challah Bake
DESCRIPTION:For the first time in nearly a decade\, the scent of fresh dough and warm community spirit will fill the halls of Washington Hebrew Congregation as the WHC Challah Bake makes its long-awaited return. Members and friends from across our congregation and the greater D.C. area will gather at Temple for an evening that mixes tradition\, connection\, and a little bit of flour-dusted fun. Each participant will make two loaves\, one will head home with you — ready to bake\, freeze\, or show off proudly on social media. The second will be frozen\, later baked at the Temple\, and delivered to members who could use a little extra love: individuals recovering from illness or surgery\, families who have recently experienced a loss\, or those celebrating joyful new beginnings\, like the arrival of a baby. \nWhether you join us to learn\, to laugh\, to taste\, or to give back\, we invite you to roll up your sleeves and dough something delightful as part of this joyful community experience. Come for the challah — stay for the warmth it brings. \nCost is $50 for WHC members; $60 for non-members\, and includes dinner and a WHC Challah Bake apron!

SUMMARY:Shabbat Exploration Series: Cohort Opening Shabbat
DESCRIPTION:This event is an opening Shabbat dinner to kickoff our Shabbat Exploration Series cohort. If you register for this cohort\, no need to register for the individual Shabbat Exploration Series events! While the full series will include programs that anyone can “drop in” for\, the kickoff is exclusively for those who choose to be part of the cohort. See below for all the details! \nIf you are not joining the cohort but would still like to celebrate Shabbat that evening\, note that Tribe 12’s regular Monthly Shabbat Dinner is happening at the same time. \n  \n— \nShabbat is a day of rest\, joy\, and connection\, and there are many ways to experience it. Maybe you want a break from your phone for a day\, or even just for a few hours\, but that might feel lonely. Maybe you’ve been wanting to check out a synagogue in town\, but don’t want to go by yourself. Maybe you want to connect over a leisurely Shabbat lunch and songs with other people\, feeling like there’s nowhere you have to rush off to\, just being fully in the moment. \nThis is the inspiration for our Shabbat Exploration Series. Each month from January to June\, Jewish 20s and 30s will come together for a different Saturday morning Shabbat experience\, rotating between synagogue-based ones and home/nature-based ones. This is a chance to explore different ways of doing Shabbat to see what fits for you individually\, while also forming friendships with others who are doing the same. The experiences are open to people who currently have any level of Shabbat observance\, including zero experience\, and there is no end goal regarding how you observe. Tribe 12 Rabbinic Intern Adina Ikeman and Tribe 12 Director of Engagement(s) Danielle Selber will lead these experiences. \nYou can drop in to individual experiences or sign up to be part of the cohort (people who commit to the whole series). \nParticipation options:  \nDrop in to individual experiences: Just interested in one or two offerings? You can register for any individual experience on Tribe 12’s website just like any other program. \n\n$5 for synagogue-based experiences (includes a meal)\n$10 for home- or nature-based experiences (includes a meal)\n\nJoin the cohort: Want to enjoy the full arc of the program? Develop friendships with a cohort of participants who are also exploring what Shabbat means to them. Cohort members are welcome to attend all programming; if you need to miss something\, that is completely fine. \n\n$54 covers all Saturday morning experiences and two Shabbat dinners\nCohort members have the benefit of attending opening and closing Shabbat dinners with Danielle and Adina!\n\nSchedule: (subject to change and will be updated) \nSaturday\, January 31st: Potluck lunch and singing (Northwest location TBA)\nSaturday\, February 21st: Synagogue experience (Society Hill Synagogue service & kiddush lunch)\nSaturday\, March 21st: Shabbat lunch and walk (Wissahickon)\nSaturday\, April 11th: Synagogue experience (Center City location TBA)\nSaturday\, May 16th: Guided Shabbat hike (Northwest location TBA)\nSaturday\, June 6th: Synagogue experience (Center City location TBA) \nFriday\, January 16th: Opening Shabbat for cohort members (Old City as part of Tribe 12’s monthly Shabbat)\nFriday\, May 29th: Closing Shabbat for cohort members (Location TBA) \n  \nQuestions?
