Come as you are and spend a gentle\, low-key Sunday with us. \nSpoons Tribe is a new space to find community around disability\, chronic illness\, mental health\, and fluctuating “spoons” or energy moments. We gather monthly on Zoom\, and every other month in-person\, to focus on building community that honors rest\, accessibility\, and the pace of our own bodies and lives. Gatherings may include gentle conversation\, creative expression\, easy adventure\, or simply shared presence — always with the understanding that participation looks different for everyone. This is a space to connect without pressure\, slow down\, and be nourished by Jewish community. \nTribe 12 connects people in their 20s/30s to Jewish life and community in Philadelphia today so they will choose to stay connected tomorrow. We welcome people who identify as Jewish\, whose partner is Jewish\, or who are exploring Judaism. DESCRIPTION:As the city shuts down on December 25th\, the Museum at Eldridge Street on Manhattan’s historic Lower East Side comes to life for an afternoon of soulful and spirited klezmer music that is sure to engage the whole family! \nEvery year\, the Museum is excited to host our annual winter concert\, bringing together folks of all ages to celebrate the holiday season in the most beautiful interior in New York City. This year\, we are thrilled to welcome back klezmer artist and scholar Yale Strom and his band\, Hot Pstromi\, who will mix classic Yiddish songs and klezmer melodies with original compositions. You will also hear traditional songs and tunes Yale Strom found during his years of ethnographic field research in Eastern Europe. \nThe number 18 is significant in Jewish numerology\, meaning life\, and this concert comes 18 years after Yale Strom led A Great Day on Eldridge Street in October of 2007\, an unprecedented gathering of over 100 klezmer musicians on the steps of the Eldridge Street Synagogue. In this dating experiment\, men compete on stage for one lucky bachelorette\, with the little caveat that the men can’t speak. Through a series of games – which includes calling the boys’ moms and unlocking their phones – we narrow it down to two men. Finally\, we hear their voices\, and the lucky winning man is sent with our bachelorette to the bar for an immediate date. Audience members wear wristbands according to their relationship status\, and a wingpeople (who wears actual wings) help those of you who are too shy to make a move. \nCreated and hosted by Allison Goldberg. \nTemple Beth Israel of Highland Park \nTBI is a progressive\, inclusive\, traditional-egalitarian synagogue in Northeast LA. It is a rapidly growing congregation of young professionals and families in one of LA’s fastest-growing\, most walkable Jewish neighborhoods. TBI is housed in its historic Highland Park shul\, the oldest continually operating synagogue building in Los Angeles\, with a daily minyan and Shabbat services every Friday night and Saturday morning. From Torah on Tap\, our weekly class on the Torah portion at one of Figueroa’s coolest bars\, to its thriving religious school\, we are eager to open our doors to you – and we love hosting Love Isn’t Blind!
