SUMMARY:Torn Film Screening & Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for an evening of conversation\, community and learning. We are so excited to present to you Torn: The Israel–Palestine Poster War on New York City Streets. We have to opportunity to feature film participants Alana Zeitchick (Israeli-American Advocate and Hostage Family Member)\, Julia Simon (childhood friend of Omer Neutra) and Rabbi Yehuda Sarna (Executive Director of the Bronfman Center and Interviewee) in this event and hear from them after the screening. This event created in partnership with Moishe House of Williamsburg\, Hells Kitchen\, Harlem\, Upper East Side\, Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn NAIM. This is an event specifically open to young adults ages 20-40 years old. \nAfter Hamas’s October 7 attacks and Israel’s war in Gaza\, New York erupts into a poster war over the kidnapped. TORN captures the symbolic battle for public space — where strangers rip\, defend\, and rage in the streets\, and empathy is the first thing to go. As the ceasefire in Israel-Gaza is now in effect and our 20 living hostages have returned from captivity this evening will focus on where we go from here. \nHow do we ask difficult questions and how do we have difficult conversations? These posters explore questions about freedom of speech in America and how do we continue to ask those questions as we begin again. \nPlease join us before the screening at 6pm for some drinks\, light snacks and to mix and mingle. The film will start promptly at 7pm with a talkback following.

SUMMARY:J&B goes to Bryant Park
DESCRIPTION:The Bryant Park Winter Village just opened for the season\, and one of the new food vendors this year is 12 Chairs!! A few Jews & Brews members have messaged asking if I can organize a group outing. \nHere’s the plan: We will meet in front of the Public Library steps at 1:30 pm sharp\, then walk over to the food vendors as a group. After dining\, we will stroll around the holiday fair and pop into the Lodge for drinks. If you can’t make it to the Library at 1:30\, please plan to meet us near the 12 chairs booth (see the map link below) \nThey have a ton of different food options this year\, you are not required to only support 12 Chairs. Here’s the link to the map with the list of vendors at the bottom: https://bryantpark.org/downloads/holiday-shops-directory.pdf \nDisclaimers: NO Food or Drinks are included in your RSVP. You will be financially responsible for any items you choose to purchase at Bryant Park. The average ages that typically attend our events is 25-45. This is NOT a singles event\, and unsolicited messages might result in group removal. \nNote: I know NYConnect is having a brunch at 12pm on Nov. 8\, so I’m hoping starting this at 1:30pm will give people enough time to attend both if wanted. Here’s the NYConnect info (not affiliated with J&B): https://tinyc.org/nyconnect/

SUMMARY:Love Isn't Blind | A Comedy/Dating Show Where the Men Can't Speak
DESCRIPTION:Tired of swiping? In this dating experiment\, men compete on stage for one lucky bachelorette\, with the little caveat that the men can’t speak. Through a series of games – which includes calling the boys’ moms and unlocking their phones – we narrow it down to two men. Finally\, we hear their voices\, and the lucky winning man is sent with our bachelorette to the bar for an immediate date. Audience members wear wristbands according to their relationship status\, and a wingcouple (who wears actual wings) helps those of you who are too shy to make a move. This show has been featured in LA Magazine\, LAist\, Thrillist\, Time Out LA\, CBS\, and more.
