Artist Bio:
Born and raised in the salsa popping streets of Cali, Colombia, Juan Varela is an Afro-Colombian poet, equity centered educator, and creative disruptor. He spent more than twelve years in education as a classroom teacher, curriculum designer, and nonprofit leader. He also co owns The Thrift Bus, LLC, a sustainable fashion shop rooted in community and expression. His poetry explores identity, belonging, and healing while inviting others to create boldly and imagine new forms of liberation.
