First Light & Radiant Practices: Art Lecture at The JCCSF

In this presentation by The CJM staff, learn about two gorgeous exhibitions. We’ll explore a variety of Jewish ritual objects, featured in Radiant Practices: Illuminating Jewish Traditions, that highlight the foundational role of light in Jewish life and ritual, historically and today. Additionally, journey through First Light: Rituals of Glass and Neon Art to experience how artists use neon art making as a form of spiritual practice and identity expression, along with the processes of creating light through neon.
Ron Glait, is the Adult Learning Program Manager and the Museum Technology Manager at The Contemporary Jewish Museum, where he shares his love of art and deep knowledge of Jewish culture and history with visitors of all ages and walks of life. Glait develops and leads education programs, tours and presentations of the Museum’s exhibitions. Most recently, he taught a class at the Fromm Institute for Lifelong Learning at USF, exploring our understanding of difficult history, inherited memory and trauma through viewing of art from The CJM exhibitions archive.
