Please reach out if you are interested in sponsoring all or part of this Shabbat.
Friday night we will have sushi ????
Saturday we will have Torah reading open to community members of any gender to read. Please reach out if you would like to read an aliyah for a future week.
Friday Night
We will come together at 6pm to bring in Shabbat with a songful Kabbalat Shabbat and Ma’ariv. Following services, we will have dinner including wine, challah, salatim, meat and vegetarian options, and desserts.
Saturday Morning
We will come together at 9am for some sweet treats accompanied by hot coffee, schnapps, and Torah learning. Shacharit will start at 9:30am. Please come on time to ensure we can begin promptly. Following services, we will have lunch.
Saturday Evening
We will bring out Shabbat at 5:30pm with havdalah, melaveh malkah, and candle lighting.
We are committed to making our events open and accessible to everyone in our community. The cost for Friday night is $18 per person*. At the same time, the actual cost per person for food, wine, and space considerations is much higher. We encourage everyone to give at a level which feels comfortable for them while acknowledging the cost of food and space for this event. All are also encouraged to sign up for a monthly recurring donation at kehillatharlem.org/donate to help sustain our community and events.
**Kehillat Harlem strives to make each person feel at home in our prayer space by upholding our commitment to halachah (Jewish law) while working hard to hold our commitments to maximum inclusivity. Our tefillot (prayer services) are liturgically traditional and there is a mehitza (separation between genders) while davening. Daveners (those who pray) sit in the section with which they identify, and we make space for anyone who identifies outside of the gender binary. Tefillot are male-led, and the Kabbalat Shabbat service (which introduces the onset of Shabbat) is open to be led by any community member. On the second Shabbat of the month, Torah reading is open to community members of any gender identity to read.
***Full vaccination will be required for all eligible individuals. Please contact Kyle Savitch at (302) 668-9759 or harlemerrebbe@gmail.com if you have any questions.
