Many a comparison can be drawn between winemaking and the Jewish LGBTQ+ experience, and we’re not just saying that because we want to throw a wine tasting event. Think about it…Just as there are countless varietals of wine, each with its own flavor profile and history, the LGBTQ+ community is made up of diverse identities and personal stories. Then there’s the concept of terroir —how a wine’s flavor is influenced by its environment—sound familiar? And lest we forget that grapes must often withstand adverse conditions to produce wine, just like the LGBTQ+ community’s resilience and adaptivity. Ok, now that we’ve established that a wine tasting is the perfect way to dive into talking about the Jewish LGBTQ+ experience, we would like to formally invite you to a wine tasting and storytelling event featuring four fabulous wines and four equally fabulous community members who will share their stories. Heavy apps will be served, and there will be plenty of time to socialize.
