Sukkot with ENGAJ: Feeding our unhoused neighbors (MEAL DISTRIBUTION SHIFT)

Organizer:
Ages 20s, 30s
An event for Jewish young adults (20s and 30s) to learn about Sukkot and provide meals to our unhoused neighbors

Join ENGAJ in the JCC Sukkah as we prepare a nutritious meal and deliver it to the interim housing at LifeMoves Mountain View, a short walk from the Oshman Family JCC. We’ll learn from a guest speaker from LifeMoves about the parallels between the story and rituals of Sukkot, and the experiences of our unhoused neighbors.

The event is free of charge, any donation you make toward this Eventbrite event will go to paying for the meal supplies and directly to LifeMoves.

There are two volunteer shifts, you are welcome to sign up for one or both. There is limited space for the meal distribution shift.

MEAL PREP SHIFT: (Max 20 people)

We’ll prepare rice and bean burritos in the JCC sukkah for up to 120 residents, and learn from a guest speaker about how we can relate the rituals of Sukkot to the needs of the unhoused commnity around us.

MEAL DISTRIBUTION SHIFT: (Max 10 people)

We’ll walk a few blocks to LifeMoves Mountain View and provide lunch distribution to residents there, socialize with them, and learn about other opportunities to volunteer with LifeMoves.
