Bridges in Sound Concert Series: Spirituals and Beyond

BJ Music Director Dan Nadel curates and leads a yearlong concert series in collaboration with Congregation Rodeph Sholom, co-sponsored by B’nai Jeshurun. This evening celebrates spirituals and American music with a prophetic voice, journeying through the deep tradition of African American spirituals and American songs that call us toward justice. It brings forward themes of resilience, faith, and liberation that resonate with the Jewish story and spirit.

The concert features Nia Drummond on vocals, Joe Dyson on drums, and Dan Nadel on guitar and music direction, offering powerful performances, rich sound, and music that crosses traditions and speaks directly to the heart.

The Bridges in Sound Concert Series aims to bring together diverse musical traditions and transcultural voices, exploring the emotional, historical, and spiritual threads that connect us through song. This series invites audiences into a space of deep listening and discovery, where music becomes a shared language of longing, resilience, and unity.

Interfaith Social Justice Book Club: Still Born

Dive into powerful literature alongside community members of B’nai Jeshurun and St. Paul & St. Andrew, as we join together in exploring books that amplify social justice themes. Each month, we’ll gather together in person to reflect on and discuss our monthly read. We’ll read both fiction and nonfiction works that wrestle with the intersecting injustices we collectively face.

This month we’re reading *Still Born* by Guadalupe Nettel, translated by Rosalind Harvey. *Still Born* is the story of two independent and career-driven women in their mid-thirties, neither of whom have built their future around the prospect of a family. One has taken the drastic decision to be sterilised, but as time goes by the other becomes drawn to the idea of becoming a mother.
