Of the approximately 20,000 Jewish young adults in San Diego County, only about 2,000 are involved in Jewish activities and feel connected with their Jewish heritage. We know that traditional engagement strategies are producing diminished returns. Federation’s NextGen is an innovative community collaborative of 15 local young adult organizations, designed to inspire thousands more to pursue their own Jewish journey.
GOALS
Federation is working with the NextGen Network to more than double Jewish young adult engagement over the next four years. We will accomplish this goal by
- Sharing best practices and increasing the ability of each Network member, and the Network as a whole
- Building a NextGen web-based portal with links to social media
- Bolstering leadership development among the Network organizations
- Leading annual NextGen trips to and from Israel to develop a new core of Jewish community leaders with passionate ties to Israel
- Supporting groundbreaking pilot programs through NextGen grants
- Strengthening Federation’s Young Adult Division (YAD) as the entry point for connecting thousands to Jewish life in San Diego
- Connecting NextGen Network members to Birthright Israel alumni in new, innovative ways
