This is a monthly gathering for self-identifying women to explore the intersections of femininity, spirituality, Judaism, menstruation, sisterhood, the moon, and time. You are highly encouraged to bring your own slippers– we’ve got cookies, tea, and more!

???? Beshert is a Yiddish word that literally translates to “destiny”. It’s often used to refer to a soulmate or predestined spouse. However, finding your beshert is more than just finding love by being in the right place at the right time. It’s about fulfilling your personal destiny and playing your part in the destiny of the world.
In Talmudic times, on the 15th day of Av, the young girls would go down to the vineyards dressed in white linen to dance. The eligible bachelors would then be matched up with them. There is no happier time to resurrect this custom than on that same special day here in Chicago.

Everyone is welcome to attend our events, regardless of financial ability. Your membership renewal is the best way to support our community and keep these events accessible to all. Fees collected for each event help us prepare appropriately for the right number of attendees and cover refreshments and facility costs.
Over the course of four weeks, we will look closely at People Love Dead Jews: Reports From A Haunted Present by Dara Horn. Together we will discuss and consider the questions that are posed by this book on antisemitism, human dignity, narrative, and our present. Address and details provided the evening before the event.
