About Jewish Federations of North America
The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) is one of the largest and most enduring networks of social services in North America, serving as the central communal address for nearly 400 Jewish communities across the United States and Canada. Its mission is to build flourishing Jewish communities that are healthy, safe, caring, welcoming, inclusive, educated, engaged, active in civil society, and connected to global Jewry and Israel.
Collectively among the top 10 charities in the world, JFNA and its member Federations raise and distribute hundreds of millions of dollars annually to support Jewish life locally, nationally, and internationally. Programs span social welfare, senior care, Jewish education, Israel engagement, and emergency relief — serving people of all backgrounds through thousands of affiliated agencies.
JFNA advocates tirelessly on behalf of the Jewish community, lobbying in Washington, D.C. to secure federal funding that flows to hospitals, nursing homes, community centers, family service agencies, and vocational training programs. It also leads thought leadership and policy work in areas including caregiving, aging, antisemitism, disability, homeland security, and health care.
Founded in 1935, JFNA connects Jewish communities in North America with Jews in Israel and in more than 70 countries around the world, fostering a global sense of Jewish peoplehood and mutual responsibility.
