Educational Alliance

Educational Alliance (EA) is one of New York City’s original settlement houses, founded in 1889 to offer educational, social, and cultural services to Jewish immigrants arriving on the Lower East Side. Today, EA is a proudly Jewish institution that partners with neighbors throughout Lower Manhattan, providing multi-generational programs and services in education, health and wellness, arts and culture, and civic engagement.

EA operates a network of community centers and community-based programs, including the 14th Street Y, the Manny Cantor Center, the Center for Recovery and Wellness, the Sirovich Center for Balanced Living, and Educational Alliance Community Schools & Youth Development. Across 15 sites, the organization delivers roughly 38 programs annually, ranging from preschools and day camps to after-school programs, senior centers, and health and wellness services.

Rooted in the settlement house movement, Educational Alliance continues its historic mission of connecting generations of New Yorkers to social services, empowering civic participation, and building community across the Lower East Side and East Village.
