Valley of the Sun J

Valley of the Sun J (also known as “The J” or Valley of the Sun JCC) is a Jewish Community Center located on the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus in Scottsdale, Arizona. Rooted in Jewish values, the J describes itself as the place where the Phoenix-area community comes together — to work out, play, grow, and engage — building connections that enrich physical, mental, and spiritual growth for people of all backgrounds and faiths.

The J operates a full-service health and fitness club featuring an indoor track, group exercise studios, personal training, and resort-style outdoor pools that host year-round aquatics and swim team programs. It also runs an accredited Early Childhood Center focused on nurturing children’s curiosity and Jewish identity, along with school-age childcare, after-school enrichment, and youth sports leagues including basketball, martial arts, and flag football.

Beyond fitness and education, the J offers arts and culture classes, special community events, and seasonal camps such as Shemesh Camp for children in grades K-10 and winter/summer break camps. Its tagline, “All. Together. Better.,” reflects its mission of inclusive community-building for families, individuals, and members of all ages across Greater Phoenix.

The organization traces its roots to a JCC that opened in downtown Phoenix in 1962, later relocating to a larger, purpose-built campus in Scottsdale to better serve the growing Jewish community of the Valley.
