About Jewish Family & Children’s Service of the Suncoast

Jewish Family & Children’s Service of the Suncoast (JFCS) is a multi-service nonprofit agency based in Sarasota, Florida, delivering mental health counseling and human services to individuals and families across Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, DeSoto, Lee, and Collier counties. Founded to support local Jewish immigrants and older adults, JFCS has grown into a comprehensive agency serving people of all ages, backgrounds, and faiths on a non-denominational basis.

Guided by the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam (repair of the world), JFCS provides counseling, financial assistance, youth and family support, veteran homelessness prevention, and programs for older adults and Holocaust survivors. The agency operates from its main Weinberg Campus on Fruitville Road in Sarasota as well as roughly 20 community-based locations throughout its six-county service region, including satellite offices and area schools.

JFCS is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and is supported by a combination of private and public funding, business partners, individual donors, foundations, and community campaigns including the United Way and the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee. Its programs range from mental health counseling and case management to specialized initiatives like Camp Mariposa, an addiction-prevention mentoring camp for youth, and the Building Strong Families homelessness-prevention program.
