The Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh

The Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh has long served as the heart of the Jewish community in the region, working to welcome Jewish residents, engage them in a flourishing community, and empower them to live meaningful Jewish lives. The organization traces its roots to 1984, when an ad-hoc committee explored the need for Jewish family services in the Raleigh area, leading to the formation of Jewish Community Services in 1985 and the Wake County Jewish Federation in 1986 with the support of local synagogues and the Council of Jewish Federations.

Today the Federation serves Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, Wendell, Knightdale, Henderson, Oxford, and areas east of Raleigh including New Bern, and umbrellas several core community agencies including Jewish Family Services, the Jewish Community Relations Council, and the Jewish Community Center located on the David R. Kahn Community Campus. Programs span Women’s Philanthropy, a Young Adult Division, PJ Library for young families, Israel & Overseas engagement, community security initiatives, and a robust calendar of Jewish cultural, educational, and social programming.

The Federation explicitly welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, gender identities, and Jewish affiliations, offering Jewish experiences, community, and connection for all ages and life stages, while fostering a culture of philanthropy that stewards community resources to meet emerging needs.
