AJMA: American Jewish Medical Association

The American Jewish Medical Association (AJMA) is a national, non-political nonprofit formed in the wake of October 7, 2023, bringing together physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, mental health professionals, researchers, educators, students, administrators, and allied health professionals from across North America. Its mission is to be a safe, enriching community with a unified voice for all Jewish healthcare workers, providing a professional home where members can connect, learn, lead, and advocate.

AJMA works to combat discrimination and antisemitism in medicine by promoting merit and excellence, advocating on issues affecting its members within medical associations, and educating administrators and peers about antisemitism and the role of Israel in medicine. The organization operates through a growing network of local chapters across the United States, each reflecting the institutions, professionals, and needs of its region while operating within a shared national mission.

With more than 3,000 members and supporters reaching across 100+ communities, AJMA is building a national network of mentorship, professional development, and institutional support for Jewish healthcare professionals — a resource the community has historically lacked. The organization is headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, and was founded by Dr. Yael Halaas, a New York City-based facial plastic surgeon.
