J Los Angeles (formerly Westside Jewish Community Center) is a Jewish Community Center located in Mid-City Los Angeles. Founded in 1954 as the successor to the Soto-Michigan JCC in Boyle Heights, it was established in response to the westward movement of LA’s Jewish community toward the Fairfax and Beverly Hills areas, and has served the community for nearly 70 years.
The mission of J Los Angeles is to build community based on Jewish values and connection to Israel by creating opportunities for gathering and learning from generation to generation. The organization offers a wide range of programs and activities across age groups, including an Early Childhood Center/preschool, summer and day camps, youth and teen programming (including the Diller Teen Fellows program and JCC Maccabi Games), sports and wellness (including a gym, aquatics, and youth basketball leagues), and Jewish living programs covering holidays, Shabbat, and community learning.
Rebranded from Westside JCC to J Los Angeles, the organization continues to operate on its original campus while positioning itself as a hub for Jewish and communal connection across Los Angeles for people of all ages.
