About San Diego Jewish Academy

San Diego Jewish Academy (SDJA) is a pluralistic, independent Jewish day school in the Carmel Valley community of San Diego, California, serving students from preschool through 12th grade. The school is composed of the Early Childhood Center, the Golda Meir Lower School for grades K-5, and the Maimonides Upper School for grades 6-12, all located on the school’s 56-acre Jaffe Campus. As a pluralistic school, SDJA is not affiliated with any one synagogue or movement of Judaism, and instead maintains connections with several San Diego-area synagogues.

For more than 45 years, SDJA has combined rigorous academics, Jewish values, and character development, helping students discover their strengths, build resilience, and prepare for college and life beyond. The school blends secular and Jewish learning intentionally, aiming to bring meaning to students’ lives while fostering social responsibility and active Jewish living.

Beyond the classroom, SDJA’s campus hosts Camp Carmel Creek, a K-5 summer camp open to the broader community, and serves as a hub for community events and gatherings. The school emphasizes small classes, individualized attention, and a wide range of co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities to prepare confident, compassionate future leaders.
