About Cleveland Jewish Publication Company
The Cleveland Jewish Publication Company is organized to perform a public service to the Jewish community of Northeast Ohio, providing a quality weekly newspaper, the Cleveland Jewish News (CJN), that presents local, national, and world news of Jewish interest. Founded in 1964 under editor Arthur Weyne as a successor to two earlier Jewish newspapers (The Jewish Review & Observer and The Jewish Independent), the CJN remains an independent, non-partisan source of Jewish news and commentary, unaffiliated with any single movement or point of view within Jewish life.
Over the decades, the company has expanded well beyond its original weekly paper. It publishes companion titles and lifestyle magazines including Jstyle, Jstyle Weddings, Canvas, Balanced Family, and Bar•Bat Mitzvah, and in 2018 launched the Columbus Jewish News to serve Central Ohio’s Jewish community, followed later by an Akron Jewish News. The company also operates the CJN Archive, a searchable digital database of the paper’s full history dating back to 1964, supported by the nonprofit Cleveland Jewish News Foundation.
Headquartered in Beachwood, Ohio, the Cleveland Jewish Publication Company has been repeatedly recognized for journalistic excellence, including honors from the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors and the Press Club of Cleveland as Best Non-Daily Newspaper in Ohio. Under President, Publisher & CEO Kevin S. Adelstein, the company continues to serve as a central communications hub for the Jewish communities of Cleveland, Columbus, Akron, and the broader Northeast Ohio region, covering local institutions, lifecycle events, business, culture, and Israel-related news.
