About Women’s League For Conservative Judaism
Women’s League for Conservative Judaism (WLCJ) is a Jewish women’s organization founded in 1918 that serves as the national network for women’s groups within the Conservative/Masorti Movement. It unites and supports hundreds of affiliated synagogue sisterhoods and individual members across the United States and abroad, providing programming, leadership development, and educational resources designed to strengthen Jewish knowledge and communal involvement.
Through initiatives like the Torah Fund Campaign, WLCJ raises funds to support scholarships and programs at Conservative/Masorti institutions of higher Jewish learning, including the Jewish Theological Seminary, Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies, and the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies. The organization is committed to Israel, Klal Yisrael (the unity of the Jewish people), and perpetuating Conservative/Masorti Judaism in the home, synagogue, and community.
WLCJ offers programming materials, conventions, Shabbat services, and leadership training to engage members of all ages, while also advocating on issues affecting Jewish women and the broader Jewish community. It is headquartered in New York City and operates as an active arm of the Conservative Movement.
