About ISEEN: Independent Schools Experiential Education Network
The Independent Schools Experiential Education Network (ISEEN) is a nonprofit based in Seattle, founded in 2005. It leads, informs, connects, expands and stewards transformational experiential teaching and learning in independent schools. It grew out of the need for outdoor, adventure, global, sustainability and service-learning directors to take leadership roles in designing and managing new programs.
ISEEN acts as an international learning laboratory and networking community. Experiential educators, administrators and classroom teachers share challenges and successes, learn from model programs, and explore the growing role of experiential practices in their school communities. Its work covers outdoor and adventure education, global education and travel, service learning, sustainability initiatives and curricular design.
ISEEN offers membership for individuals and schools, a Leadership Circle for member schools, and online programming such as practice and interest groups. Its flagship events are the Catalyst Institute leadership retreat and the Winter Institute. It also runs a job board and a blog.
ISEEN is not a Jewish-specific organization. It serves independent schools of all kinds, which can include Jewish day schools.
