J Long Beach (Alpert Jewish Community Center)

Jewish Long Beach (J Long Beach) is the combination of three historic Long Beach organizations: the Jewish Federation of Greater Long Beach, the Barbara & Ray Alpert Jewish Community Center, and the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Long Beach. Together they serve Greater Long Beach and West Orange County, a Jewish community of nearly 20,000 people. The community has been served since 1948.

The Alpert Jewish Community Center is the organization’s home base, known as “Your Center for Life.” It is on the Weinberg Jewish Long Beach Campus. It offers early childhood education and preschool, camp, sports, fitness and group exercise classes, senior luncheons and recreation programs for all ages. The center is open to people of all faiths and backgrounds.

Beyond the JCC, J Long Beach runs Jewish cultural programming such as the Long Beach Jewish Film Festival. It also does community relations and security work, and supports partner agencies such as Jewish Family & Children’s Service. Its philanthropic arm supports community needs locally, in Israel and around the world. Its Jborhood LBC program builds neighborhood-based social connections through volunteer Community Connectors.
