The legendary musician, writer, visual artist, and storyteller stops by for a new musical performance, along with readings from acclaimed novelist A.M. Homes and celebrated poet Sophie Cabot Black. For more than half a century, Laurie Anderson has occupied a category of her own, transforming experimental performance into a popular art form and creating works that blur the boundaries between music, literature, technology, theater, and philosophy. From O Superman to her groundbreaking multimedia installations and performances, she has consistently expanded our understanding of what an artist can do and what a story can be. She is joined by acclaimed novelist and essayist A.M. Homes (The Unfolding and The End of Alice), whose fearless, darkly comic work has captured the contradictions of American life; and poet Sophie Cabot Black (Geometry of the Restless Herd and The Exchange), whose poetry is renowned for its meditative elegance, emotional depth, and clarity.

Hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon, Muldoon’s Picnic is one of New York’s most distinctive cultural gatherings: a freewheeling blend of music, literature, conversation, and unexpected connections.
