The Israeli Film Club, a partnership between Young UJIA and Young JW3, uses cinema to spark conversation, connection, and fresh perspectives on Israel and Zionism.
From cutting-edge contemporary films to beloved classics, it’s a chance to experience the richness of Israeli storytelling and meet fellow film lovers at JW3. The Israeli Film Club is generously sponsored by Young UJIA.
We will be screening Entebbe (2018). Entebbe tells the story of the 1976 hijacking of an Air France flight by Palestinian and German militants, who divert the plane to Uganda and hold passengers hostage. As the crisis unfolds, the film follows both the hijackers and Israeli leaders grappling with difficult moral and strategic decisions. While negotiations continue, Israel secretly plans a high-risk rescue operation. The film culminates in the famous raid at Entebbe airport, where Israeli commandos attempt to free the hostages. It emphasises the human motivations, fears, and political complexities behind the historic event.
