Role Title: Director of Community Recruitment and Partnerships
Reports To: President & CEO
Direct Reports: Volunteer Recruitment Specialist
Employment Type: Full time, exempt (35 hours per week)
Location and Schedule: Hybrid Work Schedule (Waltham, MA). JBBBS staff follow a hybrid work model. On-site work is required on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while remote work is an option on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with occasional in-person meetings on those days. Requires some evenings and weekends for recruitment and events. Regular local travel across Greater Boston.
Summary
The Director of Community Recruitment and Partnerships (Director) advances the JBBBS mission by recruiting and engaging volunteers for both the Mentorship Program and the Friend 2 Friend Program, building the community and partnership network which widens the volunteer pipeline. The Director leads recruitment as a two-person function, supervising the Volunteer Recruitment Specialist and setting shared goals for the team. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the VP of Mentorship and VP of Adult Programs, the Director blends strategic outreach with meaningful engagement to grow enrollment, deepen participation, and move participants off the waiting list and into steady relationships. This position requires a highly organized, energetic, connected and community-minded professional who is comfortable representing JBBBS in front of new audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage partnerships with congregations, companies, universities, and young professional networks which widen the volunteer pipeline for both programs.
- Plan and deliver presentations to recruit volunteers at companies, congregations, universities, young professional networks, and community events.
- Represent JBBBS at recruitment and community events, including some evenings and weekends.
- Supervise and coach the Volunteer Recruitment Specialist, set shared recruitment goals, and lead the two-person recruitment function.
- Convert current volunteers, participants, alumni, and parents into recruitment ambassadors, supported by a new Recruitment Advisory Council.
- Collaborate with Development, Marketing, and Program teams to align outreach with agency strategy.
- Build and maintain a recruiting playbook which documents the work and holds the gains through staff transitions.
- Track recruitment activity and outcomes to guide a data-informed strategy and support grant reporting.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in recruitment, community outreach, sales, or a related field.
- Strong public speaking ability before small and large groups.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort meeting new people.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort with events and flexibility for evening and weekend work.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and donor or CRM databases.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of references and a background check.
Preferred
- Knowledge of Salesforce.
- Familiarity with the Boston Jewish community and its networks.
- Experience building community or employer partnerships.
- Strategic and creative thinker, with comfort using marketing and social media to reach new audiences.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000 to $80,000 plus bonus potential, commensurate with experience.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment
This role is performed in a hybrid remote/office environment and out in the community. It requires periods at a computer and regular time at off-site recruitment and community events, with occasional lifting of event materials up to twenty pounds. The office environment is generally quiet to moderate, with some shared desk spaces. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
