Base is a home for students, young adults, and their friends — and the actual homes of four rabbinic couples and their families: Rav Ezra and Laura, Rav Jonathan and Hannah, Rav Sarah and Rav Will and Rav Moshe and Ariana.
Base came to Chicago in 2016 and has since expanded from our original Silverstein Base Lincoln Park to include the Luba and Bernard Friedman Base Loop, Anna & Fred Doppelt Base Andersonville and Base Logan Square! Nationally, the Base Movement is housed at Moishe House and focuses on young adults in their 20s and 30s, while in Chicago all four Bases are also a part of Metro Chicago Hillel and serve both college students and folks in their 20s and 30s. All Bases are committed to pluralism and founded on three core values: hospitality, learning, and service. We work in close partnership with campus partners as well as many local Jewish organizations!.
