About Congregation Anshe Emeth
Congregation Anshe Emeth is one of the oldest Jewish communities in the Mid-Hudson Valley, established in 1888 in the historic city of Hudson, NY. Originally located on lower Warren Street, the congregation moved to its present facility in the Town of Greenport in 1968, where it continues to serve the region today. The synagogue is an inclusive, egalitarian community that blends traditional and non-traditional elements of Jewish practice.
Congregation Anshe Emeth describes itself as a warm and welcoming community open to diverse religious backgrounds, dedicated to enhancing Jewish life, culture, and the principles of Tikkun Olam. The congregation serves the religious, educational, and cultural needs of Jewish residents while participating constructively in the broader Columbia and Greene County community. Rabbi David Almog joined the congregation in August 2024, bringing experience as a campus rabbi at Columbia University and as a teacher of future clergy at the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York.
The congregation owns a Jewish cemetery that is part of Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson, NY, offering both traditional and non-traditional burial sections for interfaith couples. Its active Sisterhood sponsors annual Purim and Chanukah parties, organizes cultural trips and entertainment, and runs charitable collections and fundraising activities for the local community.
