Hillel Montreal

Hillel Montreal is the Jewish campus organization serving CEGEP and university students throughout Montreal, operating as part of Federation CJA’s GenMTL department. Its mission is to enrich the lives of Jewish students through meaningful points of engagement, inspiring them to strengthen their commitment to Jewish life, learning, and the broader Jewish community.

Hillel Montreal is active on campuses with sizeable Jewish student populations, including McGill, Concordia, Université de Montréal, and Université du Québec à Montréal, among others. Programming includes monthly Shabbat dinners, on-campus bagel lunches, holiday celebrations, movie nights, exam de-stress events, first-year student programming, religious life and Jewish education initiatives, and student leadership development.

The organization operates out of the Jack Reitman Hillel House on Stanley Street near McGill and Concordia, which also offers off-campus residence space for students. Hillel Montreal traces its roots to the B’nai Brith Hillel Foundation, established in 1944, and continues the international Hillel movement’s work of fostering Jewish identity, community, and connection to Israel among university students.
