Jewish Family & Community Services East Bay

Jewish Family & Community Services East Bay (JFCS East Bay) is a community-based, direct social and human services organization serving Alameda and Contra Costa County residents of all ages, races, and religions. Founded in 1877, the agency began by helping welcome Jewish immigrants arriving from Eastern Europe and later supported those fleeing Nazi Germany in the 1930s; today it continues a legacy of care that includes support for Holocaust survivors.

While its mission has broadened to serve the entire community, JFCS East Bay remains committed to a set of services specifically for the Jewish community, guided by the value of being responsible for one another. The agency provides services across three principal program areas: refugee and immigrant resettlement (including for Afghan, Ukrainian, and other populations, plus immigration legal services), mental health services for children and parents, and care and support for seniors, including Holocaust survivors.

Direct service staff at JFCS East Bay hold diverse expertise and are culturally responsive, often sharing lived experiences with the clients and communities they serve. The organization partners with entities such as The Jewish Federations of North America’s Center on Aging, Trauma, and Holocaust Survivor Care, and receives support from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany for services to Jewish Nazi victims.
