About Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh
Founded in 1912, the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh is the central fundraising and community-planning organization for the region’s Jewish community. It works to cultivate resources, connect people, and collaborate across the community to live and fulfill Jewish values, with a vision of a flourishing Jewish community where everyone feels included, supported, and inspired.
The Federation funds and coordinates a network of partner agencies and programs that care for people at every stage of life, from early childhood through older adulthood, spanning community engagement, health and human services, education, and security initiatives that keep local Jewish institutions safe.
Beyond Pittsburgh, the Federation extends its reach to Israel and Jewish communities around the world, supporting overseas partners and global Jewish causes as one of the independent Federations affiliated with The Jewish Federations of North America. It also plays a leading civic role in the Pittsburgh Jewish community, including its response and ongoing support following the 2018 Tree of Life synagogue shooting.
