About Keshet
Keshet is a national nonprofit working for the full equality and inclusion of LGBTQ+ Jews and their families in Jewish life. Founded in 1996 as a small, volunteer-run group in Greater Boston, it has grown into a national organization headquartered in the Boston area, with offices in New York, the Bay Area, Chicago, Florida, and Texas.
Keshet equips Jewish institutions such as synagogues, Hebrew and day schools, youth groups, summer camps, and social-service agencies with the training and resources to build LGBTQ+-affirming communities. It also maintains an Equality Directory so LGBTQ+ Jews can find welcoming clergy and organizations.
For young people, Keshet runs programs for queer Jewish teens and young adults (ages 13-18 and 18-24), including LGBTQ+ and Ally Teen Shabbatonim weekend retreats. It also offers an LGBTQ+ Jewish Family Camp. Beyond Jewish institutions, Keshet mobilizes Jewish communities to advance LGBTQ+ rights, including protecting transgender rights and marriage equality, and leads Thrive: the Coalition to Defend Trans and LGBQ+ Youth.
