About Montreal Holocaust Museum

Founded in 1979 by Holocaust survivors, the Montreal Holocaust Museum (Musée de l’Holocauste Montréal) is dedicated to educating people of all ages and backgrounds about the Holocaust, while sensitizing the public to the universal perils of antisemitism, racism, hate and indifference. Through the life stories of Montreal-area survivors, the Museum invites visitors to reflect on the destruction wrought by prejudice and hatred, and to consider their own responsibility to defend human rights and dignity.

The Museum offers a permanent exhibition, rotating temporary exhibits, guided tours, teacher training, and educational programming for schools and the general public across Canada. It maintains an extensive archive of survivor testimonies, artifacts, and historical documents used for research, remembrance, and education.

The Museum is currently closed as it prepares for a major expansion: it is relocating from its longtime home in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood to a new, much larger 55,000-square-foot building at 3535 Saint-Laurent Boulevard in the heart of Montreal’s cultural district, with an opening planned for 2027.
